Are there any games that you didn't like at first, thought it was terrible and would never think of playing it but then reinstall it to realise that the game is an actually fun game?

For me it was Prince of Persia because I didn't like the direction of the gameplay so I didn't want to play it at all. Then one day I felt like I'd just give it another go and now I'm constantly playing it, eager to finish it XD.

Urban Assault, it was way too complex when I first tried it out (installed the demo from the Age of Empries CD) then I tried it again a couple of weeks later and I came to enjoy its complexity, gave me one hell of time. Too bad it was only a demo (fun while it lasted) unfortunately I've tried looking for a copy, no luck :(.

Team Fortress 2.

When I first got it I was a huge UT fan and struggled to grasp TF2 at all. About a year later...lol...I started to really get into it.

Half-Life 2. I really didn't care much for it until I played it again last year. I think it's amazing now...really odd.

Kinda random, but the Silent Hill series...I got sick of it but I decided to continue one day, only to find that combat was fun as hell.

FEAR 1...it really bored me because it felt so different. but later that day I tried it again...and bought FEAR 2 like 2 days later haha that was one of my favorite series ever...

Half Life 1...it was boring as crap but after I played HL2 I wanted to go oldskool Valve.

STALKER SOC. I played like for 15 minutes, got killed in the first ever mission (coz I wasnt really trying at all) and exit game and totally forgot about that I had it in my HDD. About...>6 months later, I was cleaning up my HDD and went "WTH is this game doing in my PC", decided to launch it and at the end of the day, it was all I can think about :D (for the next few weeks too).

Knights of the Old Republic. When I realized it was turnbased on the tutorial level I wanted to stop right there. Probably one of my best surprises of a game.

Definitely Stalker, but I sort of lost interest again. The more i think about that game though, the more it makes me want to go back to it. I have a somewhat shakey relationship with that game

Crysis Warhead. Once the disappointment for the story passed I actually enjoyed it, even though it wasn't as good as the first.

I have a bunch of unfinished games sitting and collecting dust on my shelves. I rarely go back to play something which looked like it sucked first time round. I'd rather go replay a good oldie.

There have been a few for me, but the most notable ones were Dungeon Keeper, Mechwarrior 3, Half Life and Rise Of Nations

Half Life 2. When I first played it, I didn't really enjoy it much. I got to Ravenholme, Ravenholme bored me, so I stopped playing. Then after reinstalling it I played through the rest of the game and absolutely loved it xD

I'm adding Fallout 3 to the list. The main thing that dissappointed me was that the main quest was extremely short and you couldn't continue playing after it.

And then came the 5 DLCs, one notably Broken Steel, which is the best DLC of the 5 IMO. Now I can finally continue with my other side quests and continue exploring the world of Fallout.

STALKER, I played the game up until X16, then the first patch came out. When I patched it all of my saves were lost, and I didn't like the game enough to start over. About a year later I tried it again, and I loved it. With all of my knowledge of the game mechanics from getting half-way through it before, I was able to defeat enemies fairly easily, and I was able to take on more challenging adventures, rather than just fumbling through the beginning and getting killed every 10 minutes like my first play through. It is now number 3 on my favourite games of all time list.

Most recently would be World in Conflict. I tried playing it about a year ago, and was impressed with the graphics, but found the story really non-engaging and didn't like the camera controls, so I gave up after playing only a misssion or two.

Tried it again more recently and realized that the first few missions are a bit dull, but it gets awesome after that. I love how despite being set on an alternate timeline, everything is grounded in reality and based on actual Cold War technology and battle plans: no aliens or bizarre technology or super units like in Red Alert. I also don't mind the absence of base building. I'd say it's probably the best RTS I've played in terms of simulating what actual modern combat is like.
