games with best sound

what games on pc have the best sound effects? RTS's to FPS doesn't matter

out of newer games: CoH has some of the best sounds Ive ever heard in an RTS or anywhere else for that matter. Doom3 has some insanely good sounds, it might be old but when it comes to the sounds of horror, they nailed it (just not the rest :E)

Borderlands has some quite "nice" sounds for some of thier weapons, but pretty bad for other.

then ofcourse there is the STALKER series, which has some quite nice sounds

Seconded on the CoH. I still play this comeptetively online today, and its a blast playing the game with cool... EVERYTHING and especially awesome sounds.

painkiller and guildwars franchises both have amazing audio. anyone who deny's this can leap to their deaths off a local bridge near me in winter (ice flows rotfl)

it was because if this game i made this topic lol. i saw the trailer and was amazed at the sound.

Cryostasis, Dead Space and Company of Heroes are my favorites as far as sound effect go.

Doom 3 and Quake 4 had incredible sound quality for those years, and the actual sound design was great. Who can forget the Hell level of Doom 3?

Stalker was the next that impressed me. It was really freaky. The voices are its only fault.

And Dead Space is pure genius. My favourite of the bunch.

The assorted explosions and gunfire on World in Conflict always tend to blow me away.

Best atmospheric sound: Either BioShock, or something like Myst III.

yes, yes, once i upgrade to a phenom II 940, and whatever dx11 nvidia gpu.

gonna get me an x-fi sound card, then ill be ready for bfbc2, oh i cant wait.
