Wow. Cool how you can know exactly what a person's true nature is and pass judgment on him just by reading a one-page web article. Of course, he's a "psycho." Psychotic people are simply evil at birth and should be killed because they are evil. So much easier than working to understand and treat the disease better.I have no pity for psychos. What that kid did was just cold hearted and typical sociopathic behavior. He knew what he was doing,he just didn't care...
There is no cure for 'bad wiring' in the brain like his,he'll just snap again someday after 'treatment' and another innocent person will pay the price.
The way I see it is that if you take a life non-accidentally you should lose your own..PERIOD!
Tip of the day for psychos: Take your medication, even when the 'voices' tell you NOT to.

And I'll tell my two schizophrenic uncles your tip for the day; I'm sure they haven't heard that one before.
[QUOTE="Iantheone"]Ughh it is stupid. Imo if you kill someone it should be the automatic death sentence (Unless it was an accident)Mograine
*sigh* Nope. In this case, maybe. But to say this is extremely naive.
News from the gaming world. I wish I could say I was surprised, but this is more tiring than surprising or shocking.
I doubt it was simply a "why didn't you pay the internet fees?" "because I don't want you to play anymore" *stabs* *stabs* *stabs* dialogue.
They probably had a heated discussion before. Gaming itself has nothing to do with it, it's a matter of principle.
Bingo. He was a foster kid, and he was a mid-teen. Those two ingredients can make for a very emotionally stressed person. We don't know what his relationship with his foster mother was. What we CAN glean from this article is that gaming was obviously his way of escaping his stress... his way of dealing with it all. It's tragic that the woman was killed, and clearly the boy is unstable (emotionally, if not mentally) and needs help. But to blame this murder on video games is simply ridiculous. If anything, I bet video games are what kept it from happening sooner...Video games are not the problem here. No doubt about it. Anyone who says otherwise is vastly misinformed by the media or stupid. I've been playing violent video games for quite a while now and if there's anything I've learned from all those years of playing them it's that it's just a game. Seriously, how messed up do you have to be to murder someone because they refuse to pay their hard earned money for your internet addiction? Pretty. And that's exactly what this guy is. Video games made him like this? No. More violent? Possibly, but in no way can a video game completely change your ideals and polarize your morality. People who play FPSs are attracted to guns and shooting. Some of these people own actual guns and collect them responsibly. The people who use them to inflict direct harm on someone else aren't the people who play FPSs I can guarantee you. People who watch slasher movies usually watch them because they are pretty funny to watch (not in a sick way, just that no one really takes them seriously anymore) and they generally enjoy them. None of these people are murderers because of the fact they enjoy them. Serial killers might be attracted to that kind of imagery, but I really doubt they started killing people because they saw a cool horror movie as a kid or something. Video games aren't the problems at all. Neither are any of the other social media. Contributes, sure, but not the direct cause.
As a Romanian friend here on gamespot has said: "Romanias are too obsessed with counter strike"
the nature of the crime (17 stabs) is indicative of mental health problems.OoSuperMarioOLOL, so if he was truly obsessed with counter strike he would stab once from behind with the heavy attack, like all good CS players do!!
It sad and all but now people are going to get onhow shooters are bad. but the truth is games are not bad its the people who play them I am no murder and I play shooters all the time. But as i said I feel bad that this happend and wish the family luck
Mental problems + 15 years old, take a lot out of the time spent in prison. That shouldnt matter. And that 12 years is for being mentally stable. Also if he is so mentally unstable that he killed someone shouldnt he be in prison longer? Or at least in a psych ward?[QUOTE="DanielDust"][QUOTE="Iantheone"]"Facing 12 years of prison"???? Wtf is wrong with the world? You only get 12 years for murder now?Iantheone
It is inhumane to treat people that way... A person with a mental disability has no control over having it... We can't simply lock them away forever...

Yes we can. They are dangerous to the public.[QUOTE="Emraldo"]addiction

Not games.
Use what you are supposed have between your ears.
The article portraits this case as gaming is the cause, while it isn't. Addiction to it is the reason it happened.
Addiction is a horrible thing. Gaming is one of the things you can get addicted to, and this kid went over the edge, he probably was completely uncontrolable, he relied on games, they kept him going, for him gaming was probably the purpose of life, and the mother did a brave thing to pull him out of harms way, and paid the price with her life. IF she hadn't done what she had, the kid would have died eventually of excessive gaming. The only thing gaming has to do with it is the fact that it's addictive, and addiction usually never end well.
"videogame violence had nothing to do with it"
'
Ya know - the first thousand times I heard that, I might have believed it, but it's starting to become obvious now, that people who sit and pretend to murder people for hours a day ARE more likely to be violent.
Born_Lucky
wrong. I've been playing violent video games for 20 years and I've never been violent towards anyone.
Wow that was stupid. Who's gonna pay the internet bill now?F1_2004Lol. Oh god...I'm an awful person.
Wow that was stupid. Who's gonna pay the internet bill now?F1_2004Maybe the prison library has internet :P
Disagreed. And actually statistically it REDUCES violent crimes."videogame violence had nothing to do with it"

Video game 'addiction,' while being very bad, is just one little issue in the big picture. There are drugs and alcohol, both of which people can be addicted to, and potentially violent when it is taken away from them. The solution is: EVERYTHING IN MODERATION>
And for people saying the video games caused this, you are stupid, they are probably what delayed this, i know if i didn't play violent video games i would have killed a few people by now(literally), and i can easily say, he is not even close to being as psycho, insane, and as much of a sociopath as i am, video games is the only thing that keeps me from going over the edge which normal people call morals.
