does anyone have a simular laptop with a 8600m gt or 8700m gt that plays team fortress 2 quake wars or battlefield 2142 , bioshock, with no system lag or chugging on high settings

intel core duo 1.66

2 gig memory

8700m gt

240 gig hd 5400 rpm

Well part of the problem may be the 5400 rpm hard drive. Even if the system can run the game the HD needs to be able to get enough data to the system fast enough, otherwise you may just get lags and the like.

That would be my guess anyway.

I think you might want to wait a tiny little bit before buying. The 8800gt just came out which kind of makes it likely that we'll hear something about the 8800m gt some time soonish, like a release date or something. And I use a core 2 duo 2.33, 2gb ram, x1600, with a 160gb hdd for my gaming and its mostly fine, I can't play that many games on high (mostly because the x1600 is crappy compared to the 8600m gt and the 8700m gt) but most games on medium are good enough. And yes I use a macbook pro.
