Hey! how come gamespot never do a mouse round up like the ones they do for the video cards... i think it's time they did. with som amny mice out now

I personally would like to see something like that as the mouse has become or is one of the most important parts of your setup.

Maybe some of you guys would like to give a small review of what mouse your using... and i dont just mean a thumbs up.. i wana hear about problems you've had and such with the software that came with the mouse of something..

I personally have the G5 (one button version) and it works ok, but i've had problems with the software.. like your supposed to be able to set profiles for games.. but it doesn't always work.. and the DPI can randomly change in the game if your trying to change on the fly..... basically if it did what it's supposed to do.. then it would be a brilliant mouse, but it's hit and miss with it.

i'm looking at (or thinking about) getting a new mouse and i was looking at the G9 or Sidewinder....

What's your views?

yeah, it would be a neat feature for gamespot to do

myself, i use a razer copperhead and i can't even imagine using anything else

it's very comfortable, a perfect weight for me, has plenty of buttons and is sleek and sexy

Agreed. It would be great if Gamespot would do a little feature on gaming mice and even gaming keyboards for good measure. I have a wireless Logitech G7. It works fine and doesn't skip too bad, since it doesn't use Bluetooth, and I certainly appreciate not having to tug the chord every 10 minutes, which is now a plus I got used to. I don't really use the DPI settings too often in games, mostly just in picture editing, but I do notice the smoother cursor motion compared to non-gaming mice. Although I'm very happy with my G7, I'm very intrigued by the new Microsoft Sidewinder, and will probably give it a go when it comes out.

I think I've actually inquired about it a couple of times, and I hope the hardware guys do something on the subject at some point. There are tons of mice out there that are too small for comfort, especially side to side on the fingers. I like to spread my hand wide while I use a mouse.

I'm using a Razer Blackadder at the moment. It's a bit pricey, but it was made based on the model of the old Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, so it's a nice wide mouse and has some nice features added to it. It's not perfect (I think my perfect mouse would be wider than any mouse ever made), but it's comfortable for gaming and desktop stuff, even if I do have to move my ring finger off to the side of it. Usually I just move my middle finger back and forth from the middle mouse button to the right mouse button, but I can put all three fingers on it if I need to.

Love my Logitech G7 Special Edition.

went from a G5 after the laser went bust, and it was defitnaly a great decision.

Im lovin the large buttons of Razer mice - which seem more appropriate to my wirst flick style FPS gaming. Only problem is cords keep getting tangled on my desk.

I've had my trusty G5 for a while now. Best mouse I've ever owned (even though the mouse wheel sucks sometimes)..but I'll probably be getting something new pretty soon. A round-up of recent gaming mice would be quite nice to have.

I have a Razer CopperHead, had it for nearly 2 years. Probably buy it again if I needed to replace it because it's so good. Or maybe look at the DeathAdder.

I use a plan-jane Microsoft optical mouse, not even a laser. But, I really only game single player so I don't need 48.7 million dots-per-millimeter of resolution.

I would like to have programmable buttons, but I haven't had a mouse with that feature for 5 years so I guess I don't miss it to much.

On the other hand, I *LOVE* my G15 keyboard! If a new mouse can affect me as much as my G15 has, I should certainly talk myself into one!

Logitech Click FTW, its such a simple, cheap, yet PERFECT optical mouse

IMO some "gaming mouses" are a complete ripoff

a few weeks ago i pikced my self up a logitech mx518, it was nice and all, but it just was not worth the money, the mouse precision just ddint seem that much better than my other mouse and was a lot heavier and clunkier(maybe just cause im used to my other mouse)

ill stick with my logitech click until it dies out on me (been goin bout 3 yrs and still goin strong), and once it does die out, ill just get another one off ebay for 5 bux

LMAO. Excuse me?

In all seriousness though, I've used the G5, Copperhead, and the Habu, and none of them touch the Deathadder. I highly reccomend buying one.

I got a razor diamond back when I bought my new comp over a year ago and it is amazing how different a gaming mouse and a regular mouse are. Going from a cheap microsoft mouse to this one showed the huge difference in quality between the two. It's a good mouse there arebetter ones out there but it is great.

MX 600 (i think?) anyway, the mouse is solid, works fine but connectivity is troublesome sometimes, where ill have to reconnect the mouse to the reciever. Software, thats stuff is annoying half of the time, i find myself just ending the processes.

How is the DeathAdder better than the Copperhead? I'm using the Copperhead now, been using it for 2 years but I'm thinking of replacing it,getting either the same mouse or the DeathAdder. I've heard good things about the DeathAddder but then the Copperhead seems perfect.

I'm just using a standard Logitech "light" mouse, and it's worked well for a while. Would purchasing a newer mouse like a razor or g7 really make that much of a difference?

Well... it seems there are allot of different mice being used by different people and i haven't looked at the Razor before now... and it seems that they are releasing a new mouse with 4000dpi the "Lachesis" and it also has onboard memory for holding profiles much like the Sidewinder from Microsoft

I'm really curious about the 3 top mice coming out for gaming.... but bottom line is really...

Gamespot!.. Please do a Round-up of mice! :D

It's not been released yet. It just looks interesting, which is why I want to give it a whirl.

Well, the biggest difference for me is that gaming mice tend to have smoother cursor motion, whereas non-gaming mice I've used tend to jump and exaggerate certain motions a little. I haven't found much use for the resolution switcher in gaming, but it is very useful in graphics editing. Also, programmable buttons are very handy.

Well, there are a lot of new gaming mice coming out or are recently out. These include: Razer Boomslang Razer Lachesis Razer/Microsoft Habu Microsoft Sidewinder Logitech G9 That's just from the "big 3" of gaming mice. Those alone would probably take an entire Gamespot Round-Up column to have a look at all of them. That's not even counting the non "big 3" ones from such companies as Creative and Saitek. Speaking of which, man, have you seen that new Saitek Cyborg mouse? Damn, I never knew the gaming mouse market is so big.
