general protection fault?????

In Vegas 6 it keeps freezing up and I get a message that says-"general protection fault "and I have to shut down with the task mgr. Anybody know what this means?

Are you overclocking?

It's probably a video driver issue. You might try omega drivers or an older set of drivers. Nvidia drivers have been known to have issues with Vista. This doesn't make Vista a bad thing, it just means the best solution for you is to dual boot XP and play Vegas 6 in XP.

Also, make sure you have the latest patch for Vegas 6.

Maybe someone has a better solution as I'm not familiar with that particular game.

No overclocking, and never used Omega drivers. How do you dual boot to XP?

Have you ever installed an operating system before? If not, I can't simply write a post and have you follow some simple instructions. It involves resizing the partitions on your hard drive and editting certain files and I'm not quite that familiar with Vista. They do have booting programs that make it easy to multi-boot but I only use Linux boot system so, I don't really know what to say other than search the net for the information.
