this game is awesome , it's true that i hated it at first but now i'm likeing it a lot

now i'm 10 hours through the game , and i didn't get bored yet

players have been throwing this problems on the game :

- it respawn the soldiers on every checkpoint ! , well that's right but that what should happen in the real life , i mean they re assign another soldiers to the checkpoints ! , do you want them just to leave the checkpoint without guarding !? , plus it's only 2 gurds in every checkpoint you can kill them in no time , they actually add a lot of fun to the game

- the game is repetitive , well yeah , but tell me which game is not (to some extent) ? , i know this game is more repetitive than other games but still i found it a fun game to play with , plus even though the missions are the same , but the environment change in every mission (this game is about the environment and your creativity)

- the AI is stupid and hard to beat , well no , not at all , fighting the soldiers is to much fun and it is just right , the AI could'v been better yeah , but it's okay enough , and actually i never played a game that made me feel like the way farCry 2 made me feel when fighting the soldiers , it feel really like you are in the jungle and the trees and the grass really disturb your vesion like the real life , and it's easy to kill the enemies

i mean if you still have this game you might want to give it a second chance , since you already payed for it then why don't you enjoy it if you have chance to , except of course if your PC can't max the graphics to the top , then i don't know !

see this screenshots i took it yesterday :

look at the grass !! wow

Hey, you don't have to convince me - I loved this game, and am still playing it. You're going to get a lot of people coming in here and telling you that you're wrong though. I've pretty much given up on defending this game.

It was alright. It was fun blowing stuff up and setting stuff on fire. The story couldn't really hold me and the enemies weren't really interesting.

I was amazed by the graphics & physics & loved the theme. At first I thought it would never get old, as I could choose how I wanted to go about completing a mission, and the guard posts would be fun to take out. It really does grow stale very quickly though. Guard posts were an absolute pain after awhile. I would be leaving my vehicle to hike across hills & rocky terrain a mile away from a guard post because if your within ear shot, they will see you somehow. Even then, if there happened to a sniper in a hill, he will spot you. I remember spending 30 minutes looking all around a certain area for a sniper shooting me. I ended up finding him by himself on a hill, surrounded by shrub, able to shoot me almost anywhere in a small valley area.

And as for aproaching a mission any way you want, you soon realise that you can spend ages trying to set up a plan to attack that convoy, which went wrong half the time, or just lay a mine in the middle of the road & blow it to hell. It's like saying, I could walk down the road to the shop, or skip around the block for the sake of doing it differently. The harder options don't really make it more fun, especially when its the same thing over & over again.

I don't know, that's how I felt about it anyway.

Yeah this is true. Terrible world AI plague the game; sneaking is almost impossible, because once you're spotted(and you get spotted very easily), you have to run like 300 feet(estimation) away and hide behind some cliff face to be able to try to sneak in again. AI can see you through shrubs and bushes, they can also see you from very far away. You would think that it would be easier to spot the sniper in a high tower post that sticks out like a sore thumb, then for him to spot you 200 feet away behind some tall grass, but apparently he can see everywhere. The guard posts were annoying too. I timed it once, I killed all the enemies at a guard post, then I drove down the road for a minute and half, then turned around and went back and within the 3 minutes it took me, the guards were all back! Terrible game.

It frustrated me masively how the missions show absolutely no imagination on Ubisoft's part. I mean, for the convoy missions for example, they could actually go out of their way to make them more challenging as they progress - place more enemies, bring terrain problems into it. But instead it's like they've literally created the code and assets for one mission, then pressed CTRL-C and CTRL-V, and then said "DO IT HOW YOU WANT!" It's a sign of lazy and incompetent game design, which is evident in every single of the game's other glaring problems.

I found it fun at first as well, really amazing to play with awesome scenery

But I also had the problem of the game constantly repeating itself, going to blow up a truck that always had the same escort etc. and putting it further away doesn't make it harder... it gets more annoying having to drive the whole way. Otherwise the game had a lot of potential

Why do these posts keep coming up? Your not going to convinve people a average game is any better then average, the only thing good about it was the open worlde, once you get into it you realise how poorly done everything in the world is, sorry, you cannot make chicken Salad out of Chicken ****. Far cry 2 failed to come close to its potential.

Death in games is often very... temporary. I want to find out what happens to me as a player if I make my videogame death much more permanent. This is the story of one game of Far Cry 2 - one single narrative that one way or the other will end in my death. Whether it is at the hands of my enemies, the harsh environment, or my own ineptitude, I am not going to survive the telling of this tale.

The rules: Normal difficulty; fortunes DLC installed. When I die, that's it. Game over.

Let's see how far Qurbani Singh can get.

This game is so hated, and I never understood why. I really enjoyed it, and the fire propagation was one of the coolest gameplay aspects ever.

The traveling is the best part. I've had so many fun things happen to me, just in trying to get from point A to point B. I'll easily spend 45 minutes with Far Cry 2, just wandering up a river bed, and looking for trouble.

I LOVE shooting people. It's a great way to relieve stress after visiting this forum.

I'm playing through it now and enjoying it quite a bit. The traveling is less of a burden once you figure out how to use the bus system well. The respawning enemies at checkpoints is a bit annoying, mostly because of how quickly it happens. The gameplay is repetative, but for some reason I just love the idea of being a mercenary in Africa for a setting. The story is pretty bad and the NPCs are laughable, but I'm still having fun.

Ummm, in real life, I'm sure that most soldiers and mercenaries would be able to see somebody sneaking in a bush and shrub very easily, even 300 feet away. Doesn't really take too much. And snipers are trained to scan their surroundings in excess of 3 or so football fields, which is perfectly reasonble. Hence why I enjoyed the game as the AI was as realistic as real life soldiers would be.

I will admit, it is fun to play. It's difficult at times and such. But the Checkpoints and constant vehicle attacks get irritating in the long run. I've been driven over more often then a hedgehog trying to cross the freeway.

i agree with dragon fire, i hated that. cant understand why they didnt give the player the option to go prone or at least make stealth viable, at least in the interest of fun. the option to sneak up and attempt an ambush would have been much more preferable than always have them spot you from miles away and then chase you to the death.

realism is all well and good but not at the expense of fun. and that was the bottom line with far cry 2 for me, it wasnt fun

andin ARMA and crysis they can see you from 10000 miles unless you use the cloak, now if you guys done....dont troll far cry 2 for not fixing the problems that previoous fps had but making the worse, eg too many bullets, but the "too many bullets to kill someone is getting increased and increased every year, eg far cry was somewhat reallistic and fear came out and made you shoot someone way too many times compared to far cry, and then games like timishift and stalker or crysis increased that factor and clear sky did it even worse, eg the pistols take about 15 shots to kill someone and far cry 2 made it even worse....thats why i like cod games... no such problems as ai or too many bullets or borring and repettion.

While I absolutely loved the game, I understand the first part of that post. I even read an interview saying the devs had to cut so much stuff (like ambient Lions/Gators/other dangerous animals you'd have to fight, refugee camps, civilian interaction, etc.). But the second part of that post? The end is actually fairly awesome. (SPOILERS) being given a purpose, KNOWING you will die, but knowing that your death will solve so much chaos, that's kinda cool. Not to mention the whole mercenary-that-plays-both-sides story that has never been done before, where you end up hunting down and killing each and every one of your former employers. And I really felt like I was giving these guys their come-upance. They had backstabbed me, killed hundreds of people and fueled a war. Even if the game was repetitive at some points, this made the game just that much more good. (end Spoilers) Suffice it to say, there's actually a lot of depth to the game (open world, side-missions, gun-buying system, long/involving story, lots of immersion, interesting combat, forcing you to improvise to survive, HANG GLIDERS) and I think all the nay-sayers are wrong. As of late, there have been probably half a dozen threads about people that actually liked the game.

I'm really starting to suspect that your versions of farCry2 have a bug or some thing cuz i see a lot of people complaining about how the soldiers can see you every where , while i don't have such a thing , in many situation i find my self among the soldiers and they don't see me , some times i appear in front of a soldiers after being hiding in a house the soldier take a long time to recognize me as if he think I'm one of them

Well, sometimes they shoot in the opposite direction and they still hit you:lol:

Here's something I don't understand: why do people complain about enemies seeing you? They see them too. Why do they complain about enemies shooting them through vegetation? They also do that to the enemies.

Bioshock

Half Life 2 (all of 'em)

Far Cry 2

These are the three best shooters of the past ten years. Better than Halo, better than Crysis, better than Cryostasis, better than L4D, better than - well the list of inferior games is pretty long, but you get the picture. . Far Cry 2 is a brilliant game, I never get tired of it, not to mention it's absolutely beautiful.

Nice pics by the way.

Two words that'll answer most of these silly posts: personal preference. Some people like it; other people don't. You can say that about anything.

It looks pretty, but plays like ****.

Missions are crap. General gameplay is boring and repetitive.

AI is crap. The best they do is maybe flank you in the jungle, and then auto-aim through trees and bushes; and of course I am a human, so I can't see through things like they can. Take 5 steps away from a camp and look back and they've respawned again. Course, you don't have any more health or ammo in the 15 second seconds it took for them to reload, they ruined your car, and you end up hiking through the forest for 15 minutes to avoid enemies (but you can't because they're always everywhere).

The ONLY thing this game has for it is that it looks fantastic.

Never played it, but I hear it tanked pretty bad. From everything I hear, Crysis was a much better option, and I enjoyed that one thoroughly.

The game is awesome and yes the fire is brilliant :).

There is one thing that sucks...Because I'm using Vista I cannot play a Ranked Match. Stupid Mother#O)(ing Punkbuster. So the mulitplayer is completely useless to me :(.

The most repetitive game I have ever played. Graphics were also no where near Crysis.

today i run Crysis warhead and ugh ! , after i played FarCry2 i see Crysis as a kids game , i was Crazy about Crysis but now i can see a lot of weakness in it you most likely will never understand what i'm talking about but i will try

.

one thing that farCry2 is better at is the lighting , it's far more better than Crysis look at this image from farCry2

- do you see how as i stand inside this darky room the weapon is dark and outside is shiny cuz my eyes are effected by the darkness ,, in Crysis nothing will change wither you are inside or outside

- do you see the trees shadow on the hut in front of me ? that is a real shadows all over !! and the shadows move as the trees move , in Crysis you don't have this kind of shadows for the trees and other objects

- do you see how the light of the sun is shining on the roof of the hut ? , in Crysis you don't get this kind of lighting on all the objects

This game was really fun at first.. it was almost really awesome, but about 8 hours into it I lost interest. I think they just needed to mix the missions up a bit. I can only do so many go to point A and kill the caravan missions.

The open environment was awesome though, even if there wasn't really anything in it but trees and grass.

Is there a solution to my weapons firing hard candy instead of real bullets? Or maybe a reskin of enemy soldiers so that they are wearing exosuits... at least then I could get around putting 15 rounds into someone and still not killing them.

i don't know how many bullets you need to kill one man , i didn't count them , but it takes like 1 second , you just aim at him and hold the left mouse button for a second and he is dead (like 7 bullets or so ) , and it's not a problem at all , you can also kill any one with one bullet if you aimed at the head , beside i always felt that one to three bullets are not enough to drop a man cold dead like other games do , so i find this game satisfying in this field

i generally agree with TC. it has its shares of flaws, but it's no way as bad as the haters claim.

- the game is repetitive , well yeah , but tell me which game is not (to some extent) ? , i know this game is more repetitive than other games but still i found it a fun game to play with , plus even though the missions are the same , but the environment change in every mission (this game is about the environment and your creativity)Jinroh_basic
Ohhhh good one TC! What game doesn't have repetition, indeed. Only, FarCry2 is more repetitive than ****ing techno music. No amount of creativity can stop the weapons convoy from driving in circles all day long.

Anyone who thinks this game has better graphics than Crysis needs their eyes tested, dont know how anyone can even try to argue against that.

Far Cry 2's probably the definition of "good, but not great." It was fun, but far too repetitive and lacked replayability.

I agree that Crysis was technically better than Far Cry 2, but I prefer the Africa of FC2 to the stereotypical island paradise of Crysis.

The thing is though that Far Cry 2 is EXACTLY teh same every single mission, jungle with the odd building/hut, thats it through the whole game. It had some nice weapons and stuff but even the character models were just plain awful compared to Crysis. The only reason why the lighting in Far Cry 2 is decent is because everything else is pretty much low res garbage looking. Crysis has high detail on everything.

Nice pics by the way.

agreed apart from bioshock... iv played ss2 first and it did the same thing but...diffirent and when you got used to the way it did, you dont like the oposite way they are done in bioshock.

yeah its made for full auto, dont stop firing or click the left mouse button fast, use full auto, unload on them.... and yeah if you fire a single shot to the head with very carefull aim they die.
