Getiing a new rig

Im going to college and need to know if it will last all 4 years of my college for computer games and how to keep it safe from crash and how well will it work on games today

With 3 gtx 280, i hope you won't be using the 420W power supply that comes with your case.

Also there's a price drop for the gtx 280 starting on monday, i think the new price is 500$.

Why on earth would annyone want their PC to last 4years of gaming?, we don't know if games use ray traceing in 2 years, and then the SLI GTX280 is cr*p at it.

Nahalem is released this year and move on from the old 775 socket, so your PC will be the previous socket in a half year. :roll:

Get yoursealf a rig for 1200$ now and get a new one after two years, cos this settup is NOT futureproof, this settup is just silly and overpriced.

Unless your a millionaire, those 3 280's are a waste of money.

a future proof is a bs way to say it will make you endle game at a such age. for a at las this time. exemple you buy someting. that is e8500 : 2 year ago. and it would be sitll good so it kinda future proof Limited. for few year. in that case we should say
it lifespan for perforamnce is aroudn 2 year. after that for price someting will defeat it exemple E8600

Even still...

Even if you want a 280, just get one and save yourself $1000. Now, put that $1000 in the bank and use it three years from now to build another complete PC that will be better than this one. That would be much better than trying to build a pc to last 4 years.
