GMG + Golden Joysticks Awards.

As some of you already know the Golden Joystick Awards are one of gamings oldest awards ceremonies and have been going since 1983. So for the 31st year running, they have team up with GMG and 2K Games, and are giving away free copies of Mafia II and Sid Meier's Civilization V on PC to everyone one who votes.

So does anyone still care about these gaming awards, or do they just want free stuff?

I don't know about right now, but when I gave up last night the awards page had been taken down and GMG removed the link on their website. Seems like they created the offer without realizing how much attention it would get.

@Legendaryscmt: @kraken2109: Yeah they posted an update a few hours ago, saying that they have been having some server issues today, and that everything should be back to normal sometime soon.

I tried to vote and it still appears to be down. I'm going to keep trying throughout the next few days though. They will get it fixed eventually. A free game for a vote is a great tradeoff.

Ya, GMG has in the legal writing at bottom "while stocks last". I'm curious how many free copies they have.

Looks like people are able to vote now. I just finished my voting and was told that I am "on the list" and that I will be able to get my code within the next 24 hours.

@The_Animator420: @Cwagmire21: Yeah it's working again now. I've gotten my votes in already, just waiting for my key now. Which game did you go with?

I'm still waiting as well. I went with Mafia 2 since I personally can't get into the Civ series of games.

@The_Animator420: Mafia 2 is a good game, I already had it, so I went with Civ V myself. It's not really my kind of game either, but I'll give it a go for free :)

Dang it. I should have checked before dinner. Looks like the page is under heavy load again. :(

EDIT: Anyone know if you have to do all the votes? I've done all but three and now getting internal server error again. Wondering if I should just try to submit votes now.

I only did about half the votes. When I submitted, it said I was on the list and would get my code after 24 hours. I don't think all votes are required.

Got through finally. Did all votes for good measure. Now I guess I gotta wait 24 hours. I went for Civ V :D

I just checked my email link again and it was successful! Only took 17 hours for mine.

Finally got it to work. Sweet, free Civ V! now to wait for a steam sale to get the expansions

Hopefully there's not some horrible catch to all this

If you guys didn't vote for Steam (platform), Occulus Rift (innovation), and Smooth McGroove.. then I don't know any more.. xD

TBH, the site was so glitchy, I just voted for whatever wouldn't give me 505. Some of the categories I don't even know what I voted for.

I did make sure to give Hotline Miami all the votes I could! :D
