Hey I am looking for a gaming headset and didn't know which ones to get since this is my few time getting an actually headset for sound rather than just for chat. I am almost clueless on mics so bascially don't know anything about sound as well. I was planning on getting just a turlebeach as I see alot of people talking about how good they are but I though it might be a bad idea as I read somewhere that their is alot better ones. My buget is about 30-70 dollars. I am using this for my xbox 360.

These were the ones I had in mind but any other suggestions would be appreciate

  • Turtle Beach X11 ($45)
  • Turtle Beach XlC($24)
  • Turtle Beachs XC1 ($25)
  • Sharkoon X-Tatic SX ($50)
  • Platronics gamecom x40 ($36)
  • Trittions Ax120 ($60)

I am getting the headset for the 360 btw. I am looking for a headset that is cheap but has good quality as I brought one from logetect for like $30 and It broke on me in a matter of days (mic stop working and I took good care of it). I will be using it mainly for party chat on xbox when I do single player games and half the time online for the actually stero.

The general consensus around here is to pair regular headphones with a Zalman ZM-Mic1 Clip-On Microphone. It will get you far superior fidelity at a much lower cost. The most-recommended set of cans is the Sennheiser HD555, but it's a bit over your budget unless you can find it used. If you really need to stick to your budget I use the Sennheiser HD 202 MK II (~$30), which is a very good pair of headphones for the money.

Some alternative headphones you might consider are the Sony MDR-Q68LW (~$22) or Beyerdynamic DTX 35 (~$43).

If you already have a pair of regular headphones, just pick up the Zalman mic, it's only about $10.

Happy gaming,

Boz

You need a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter. Google for one.

The cord is quite long, but you can attach the mic to the headphones. Just wrap up the excess with a rubber band or something. With the headphones, either a cheap headphone amp or you can use your TV's headphone port (if it has one.)

I have the Turtle X-11's, I am on a tight budget but I am very pleased with them,The only pain is they have a bit too many wires, but once they are tucked away its ok.
