$594 before rebates and $499 after.

If the PSU doesn't show up for you this is it.

It looks fine, but if you're serious about future proofing you'll want to get 4GB of ram. With DDR2 as cheap as it is, it's hard not to justify it.

There is no such thing as "future proof." I loath that term.

If you mean you want parts that will last longer then with the GPU you've selected you are on the right track, but there is always something better just around the corner when it comes to graphics.

As for the mobo, well LGA 775 is essentially being replaced with the release of Nehalem at the end of the year so no matter what your stuck with a wolfdale or a yorkville... not much to go on from there. I guess you could alwyas get a higher clocked yorkie or wolf processor but then that will cost more. The rig I linked you is overclockable so thats where you will be getting more for your money.

DDR2 ram is DDR2 ram, just buy from a manufacturer that uses quality ICs, has solid timings, and has a good rep. OCZ can be a mixed bag, but even Crucial (considdered to be some of the best due to their Micron ICs) are a mixed bag these days since switching to a sigle sided fabrication. Just research and read reviews on ram before committing to a final purchase.

Out of curiosity what exactly did you find to not be "future proof" about the rig I linked? (other than graphics)

ather liked it, except for the gpu and possibly the mobo. i might also upgrade the case and i dont need the drive but i did like it. also the psu seemed a little low. but again i was worried that if i upgraded the gpu mayeb the mobo the case and the psu it would probably drive the price up alot.

Well the PSU is only 430watts, but it is strong as hell and can certainly power your HD4850. The price is just unbeatable right now too. If you don't plan to crossfire then the board I listed is great, its under a hundo and its a very strong overclocker. The system I listed is meant to overclock. Yeah the GPU isn't the best but its fine for anyone who isn't gaming higher than resolutions of 1280x1024 or 1440x900. I play at 1280x1024 and that 8800GS would be my card of choice if I had to get anything right now.My second choice would be the HD4850 though. I'm a budget minded person so I'm always looking to save a buck where I can.
