I think I've had my fill of TF2, it just doesn't seem to have that charm that it did the first couple of weeks. This happens with a lot of the online shooters for me, cause the gameplay gets pretty repetitive and boring eventually.

So what single player games do you recommend? I like a good challenge. I don't like linearity, but will tolerate it if the story is good enough. It needs to be runnable on a two year old Dell computer. And I'm not really into anything that's tries to be scary. I generally lean towards FPSs but I'm open to anything that's enjoyable. Anything from the past five-ten years ago

Thanks.

STALKER ran on my 3 year old PC but it had cutting edge hardware for it's time. I know some people that got a "3 year old pc" that consists out of 6 year old hardware so I think you should tell us your specs.

Doom 3 (although it tries to be scary)

Half-life 2

Episode 1 and 2 for HL2

Painkiller

Call of Duty 4

Max Payne 1 and 2

Penumbra Overture and Black Plague (although it tries to be scary)

Stranglehold

Stalker

The Witcher

Call of Juarez

Crysis

Fable Lost Chapters

I have more if you would liek to hear them.

You can play Crysis with that computer? Wow, that's a feat :o And I think that you shouldn't have any problem with COD4. But for good SP experiences I recommend: FEAR

COD1

Fallout games

Hitman games

Well, I know for sure that these games should run fine with your specs.

STALKER, Half Life 2 + Episodes, Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, COD2. I would also suggest COD4 but I've no idea whether it will run decently. KOTOR 1 and 2, The Witcher.

Those are some of the top of my head.

Morrowind or Oblivion would be my opinion. You could get them on consoles, true, but I liked the PC version of Morrowind better, at least.

Well if you can, Crysis. Absolutely spectacular game, but I doubt you can play it but you never know.

There are TONS of great games you can play with that computer.

The Elder Scrolls games, Knights of the Old Republic, or you can try the older ones like Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale, or Neverwinter Nights.

For FPS, Jedi Outcast, AvP 2, the NOLF games to mention a few that haven't been brought up yet.

lol now that I think about it you can play some REALLY good, but REALLY old games. Starcraft = MUST buy, holds up even today. Even X-com is a good game to play, although its hard to find atleast where I am at, its the only game I have torrented. But it deserves purchase

Here are a few first person shooter sytle games that I have enjoyed.

Deus Ex - A futuristic game set in world on the brink of collapse. You will be playing a federal agent named JC Denton. The game allows for multiple approaches to any given situation. Most people who played this game either had it in their top 10 or still do.

Painkiller - There is no real story here. This game is first person shooter action at its purest.

No One Lives Forever 1 & 2- Its a total spoof on the old 60's spy shows and James Bond. Despite the dated references these games are some of the funniest and most creative actions game around. Its a real shame there hasn't been any more.

Dark Force 2: Jedi Knight - This game is a bit old and dated however it is still one of the better Star Wars action games available. If you can find it. This game dates back to when LucasArts actually made great games in house.

Thief 1 - 3 - The only pure stealth game on the market. These games do a fantastic job of capturing the power stealth give and the weakness of when its taken away. These games will be in my top 10 for years to come.
