Im looking to buy a program so i can edited some gameplay i have recorded from fraps. Also something so I can make an intro to the videos( something withwords going across the screen with effects)and transitions from clip to clip. Im a total noob so any help would be great. Thanks

Try windows live movie maker, its free and easy to use.

As poster above said, try making a few movies with Movie Maker which is free with windows. If you then want more advanced options with more tools to play with, look up Sony Video Vegas (The home version though, the professional is over 600€ here)

Yeah as others have said Windows Movie Maker is free and does a fairly decent if basic job of it all. I use Movie Maker simply because it is quite easy to knock out something semi decent pretty quickly (all my Mass Effect videos are done in Movie Maker).

Movie Maker is free one you can try, if you need more editing tools then Adobe Premier is pretty wicked, but its expensive.

I agree, Windows Movie Maker (now known as Windows Live Movie Maker) is the way to go for basic video editing on Windows. There might be some other free program out there that's slightly better in some way, but WLMM is more than powerful enough to handle quickly whipping up decent-looking videos.

If you really need something more technically capable than that, I'd say the next step up from there would probably be commercial software (Adobe or Sony) in the $70-100 range.
