So it looks like the rumors were false. link
What do you think? Is this a good thing? I wonder if EA will buy Valve now?

trust me, it's better this way; google is the next new BIG evil but people don't realize it yetpromajo
that may very well be true. but ea is already evil, so google taking over is better than ea taking over.
Why Google sound good to me better than EA which is trying to take wverything maybe they will have console oneday who knowsDark_prince123
Well except that Google has pretty much nothing to do with the gaming industry. But then again, neither did Microsoft until they started their games division, and eventually Xbox.
Is Valve a public company? If they arn't its not like EA could just buy them up... Captain__TrippsI don't know what kind of company they are but of course EA can't just buy them unless Valve agrees or are forced to sell the company, but Valve is doing just fine now on their own.
But now after EA's negotiations with Take Two failed, I think they will really buy Valve or other major company like Crytek or maybe even both. Anyway, I don't think that would be bad, I mean I doubt they'll have much involvement in the development of the games made by Valve, they will probably only publish them.

anyway, a lot of these companies that EA bought up were private - they wanted to be bought by EA. Bioware, for one.I say it every time but hopefully this one will stick with me, never take articles that seriously when they rely on "credible sources".
As for the news itself, I find it great. Independent studios will always have more freedom through and through than corporate bought ones no matter how much people say otherwise.
