This is a brand new build, i7 with a gtx 295....and im noticing like a flickering in the backround on "light" colors or lighter pages, like greys and whites...like a rolling, pulsing distortion that isnt noticable on some screens but noticable on others.

Ive got an Acer 22" LCD hooked up to this machine, and this is driving me nuts.

The fact that my card is running games solidly otherwise, should mean that this problem isnt my card...or could it still be?

Ive got vista 32 installed on here until my 64 version arrives hopefully today, but could this be conflicting somewhere by chance? What can cause LCDs to get that distortion?

Anyone have any idea where i could start, and drivers i got them all pretty much.

You're just seeing the screen refreshing, it happens with some moniters on large areas of solid light colour, it's also more visible on larger moniters.

Really? Hm, thats good to know...it just isnt something im used too. See i havent built a new PC since about 01, so i been out of the loop with all the new tech. Now would that be something that can be curbed a bit with a monitor that refreshes even faster?

In theory yes, but most flat panel monitors only go up to 60 - 75 herts which may not make any difference.

Or i should say, would smaller most likely curb that issue or not be as noticable?

It'll be less noticable on a smaller screen yes. I get it on my 22" but I've gotten so used to it I rarely notice it. You shouldn't affect you at all in game, due the nature of how games are presented and how they run.

Thats when i notice it the most really though, like for instance the main game i noticed it on subtly was WoW. And then i was playing Heroes of MM V, and like when i see the green grassy field i see just like rolling transparent pulsing horizontally just kind of rapidly...does this still sound like what youre refering too?

One thing, I didn't think of at the time was, that speakers can cause interference due to there magnetic field, most monitors are protected against this but not all. So moving any speakers that are quite close to the moniter may stop this.

Is something common in lcd monitors with refresh rates up to 75hz. 120Hz monitors started coming out that solve the problem.

Also you might wanna check your monitor settings ( i have a philips that has a smart response which seems to help alot also there is a settings called phase which also helps )

It will also help to enable Vsync ( either in game menu either in nvidia control panel). That will solve the tearing in games but will limit your fps to the maximum refresh rate your monitor support ( usually 60 fps )
