Maybe if you had updated to vista from xp on the same disk. But you didn't.

Like I said before, some games can be played by simply running the executable, others need to be re-installed.

You can also try to take an export of the registry settings for a game ad import them in Vista but if you aren't comfortable with modifying the registry I would advice against it.

Give Vista a bit more time. 1 day isn't nearly enough to get to know Vista. You need at least a few weeks.

i play games on vista, and i just need to have them installed on that hdd, the only other time i played games from on another hdd was when i had a 2 hdd xp machine, in which one was the slave, maybe the slave/master thing has something to do with it....or is this something completely different?

It has nothing to do under which drive the game is installed on which OS you were running when you installed the game. That means installing it several times if you use more than one OS.

You don't activate 64-bit. The 32-bit and 64-bit versions are 2 different operating systems.

That is colors and has nothing to do with 32 vs 63 bit OS's.

Yeah, you need to install drivers, make sure they are for 64 bit Vista though.

When you install a new OS in general, you'll want to reinstall everything. Since it sounds like your going from XP (32-bit) to Vista (64-bit), you definitely want to reinstall everything. Reasons:

1) 32-bit drivers do not install onto 64-bit environments
2) Windows (64-bit) typically places 32-bit programs in different directories (Example: C:Program Files(x86))
