Actually yes. DX10 can feature A LOT more Units on the screen at the same time, wich should do a big deal for RTS Games and also other games. In fightning Games where you see a lot of enemies running at you from far away, cant remember name but there is. DX10 can be used a lot more than it is right now as PS3MasterEmil
...why can DX10 feature alot more units on screen? There's nothing stopping dx9 for having 100000 units on screen (other then hardware of course).
Can someone give me a link to the comparison shots...please...theG168If you go here, there are comparison videos.
so why does bioshock req such INSANE req for PC and DX10, but yet it looks the exact same on 360 and a 360 isnt even half the req of the prefered req on PC and i dont think 360 is dx10 either.valcrist09it probably will not have the same graphical features (no dx10 features) and probably dumbed down textures, like for most games that come out for pc and consoles.
the trailer look the same unless it was PC for both lol oh well. does DX10 make games run better too, or does it make it run worse due to way more textures? I have a pretty nice machine with Vista but after seeing the insane req for Bioshock and watching the Crysis video and the guy saying a 8800 gtx 4gb of ram and nice dual core intel ran it smooth most of the time but not on full that scares me!! Oh and isnt HellGate london going to be Direct X 10 too?
Too bad DX10 runs like crap compared to DX9 - It just isn't worth sacrificing such a huge performance loss for slightly better graphics. Or maybe it's Vista.. Who knows.BounceDKI'm inclined to believe it's the drivers for Vista/8800. The jump from DX9 to DX10 shouldn't yield much of a performance loss.

Crysis isn't done yet. Crytek are still developing the game and they have just only recently started doing heavy optimization.
That's the reason I made the jump to Vista, because I was building a new computer. The hit in performance is most likely due to two things. Driver issues, and the amount of resources Vista use (mainly RAM). I'm sure we'll get that performance back once a system pack is released. Unfortunately, that's planned for 2008.I felt a graphical slowdown on my system with Vista, I went back to XP and my computer is running much faster.
It has to do with the lighting. My advice don't upgrade to vista get a system that comes with Vista

Maybe you'll see something sooner Vista Performance and Reliability Pack leaked two weeks early
Looks pretty useless and only for 64bit versions.so why does bioshock req such INSANE req for PC and DX10, but yet it looks the exact same on 360 and a 360 isnt even half the req of the prefered req on PC and i dont think 360 is dx10 either.valcrist09
They are also probably being honest about the recommended requirements. Most companys dum down the recommended to sell more games. Supreme Commander would be a good example. The recommended requirements are Pentium 4 yet if you want to play any map with more than 4 players you need a core 2 duo.
DX10 has some really nice texture effects. Look at the Call of Juarez dx10 vs dx9. Texturing has come along way, but I think I will hardely notice it when Im battleing monsters with a decent AI. Overall I was expecting something a bit more for a 20FPS drop and $200+ on a new GPU, but Bill Gates is smarter than me so =/ microsoft wins.
Those were terrible comparison screens dude, I mean HALO 2 VS Crysis o_O HALO 2 XD There are DX9 games with far superior character models than those of HALO 2.White_Wolf_KibaWhere did you see these comparison shots? It wouldn't make sense to compare Crysis to Halo 2. Hell, it wouldn't make sense to compare Crysis to Halo 3.
Good graphics are certainly cool. But I can live with HL2 level graphics if the gameplay is as good. If the car drives like a Yugo their ain't no amount of shine you can add to it to make me enjoy it more.
For that reason I'm sticking with DX9 and XP until something comes along that I really want that is Vista exclusive.
Well just as i've said time and again, DX10's geometry shader at least in Crysis seems to only allow for more advanced particle effects such as the smoke, fire, and possibly rain (to run off of the GPU instead of the CPU). All of these are possible with a DX9 rig and an AGEIA physics card had Crysis supported such hardware!
Volumetric clouds have been done in FFX and i believe even in Kessen which would date back to the early days of DX9!
