gta 4 = boring

man i am the biggest fan of gta but hate to say that gta 4 is piece of crap .. it was fun for 1 week but after that it bores me alot

the fun factor was gone .. repetative gameplay and the biggest problem with gta 4 is the map same old liberty city

i enjoyed godfather 2 more then gta 4 .Godfather 2 have something new and unique and i enjoyed that game alot

gta 4 is all about graphics ..

pal if you don't like it don't play it, but I think the game is good, much better than San Andreas

rockstar made effort but same liberty map comon and no planes

did u play godfather 2 .. the customization in that game was great

but in gta 4 there only few clothes withe no hair change same face :(

I actually liked Grand Theft Auto IV better then San Andreas. I thought the whole body upkeep thing was annoying. Although I thought the customization was cool I honestly didn't use it much.

I'm glad they took a serious approach this time round. Hopefully they will keep it up.

I think GTA IV is amazing...

I couldn't agree more. I find GTA 4 very boring and I haven't bothered finishing it since almost every mission feels the same. And that's only after about a third of the game.

They took away most of the things that made GTA fun to play just to make it more realistic.

me too, ugh... HUGE letdown. i had way more FUN and fonder memories of vice city, frankly. gta4 had terrible music, boring story, boring quests.... the cellphone was not fun to use.... so disappointed.

It was a huge disappointment.

GTA IV has some impressive animations and lots of cool details, but Rockstar focused too much on the visuals and so little on gameplay and fun. The game has the worse missions and secondary characters on the series. The first part was fun, but it got boring after a quarter of the game. I tried so hard to finish it, but I couldn't stand the lack of creativity for the missions and dialogs/cutscenes.

I won't even mention the blurry/aliased image quality nor the **** performance.

i think GTA 2 was the best of them all
(the one where you see yourself from above but with enhanced graphics)

sure there were no shipsairplains
but there were trains, street gangs, clans
you could put a mine in your car and let other players "drive" it >)

there were cool electric weapons and flamthrowers where you see cops runnin in circles burning >)
mass destraction was really a beautiful thing... (when you see it from above with all the bodys)

I didn't like it at first... then I got addicted to it.... now I see it as a mixed bag.

I like it, but it does piss me off sometimes. It is repetitive for sure, but the story always makes up for it.

I can understand someone thinking it was boring. I used to think so... and I'm sure I will get bored of it again.

I don't understand, people always go on about how sequels are just milking the franchise and how these games just keep getting churned out as the same old stuff but in a different setting, and now that Rockstar tries to take a different direction it's a bad thing?

for those who say it's a "piece of crap"... well I'm afraid you are just wrong, even if you didn't like the game personally, just from playing surely you can see just how much quality there is in this game. The animation is fantastic, the characters are varied and often funny, the world is incredibly detailed, the combat is well doneand there are a lot of missions that are genuinely original... and there is quite a lot of stuff to do after finishing the story (addmittedly, not as much as some of the previous games) such as the random friends dotted about the place, the missions for little jacob AND of course, the whole multiplayer suite...

so maybe it isn't as crazy or silly as some of the older games, if that's what you want in a game, go buy Saints Row 2... its generally a more wacky game and there is a lot of customization for you to play around with if that's what you are really bothered about...

I agree with OP, but I wouldnt say it was totally crap, just severely overrated. GTA IV on its own is a great game, but is a very poor sequel to San Andreas considering that they removed most the fun activities and replaced them with this silly gimmicky relationship system which gets tedious after the first time. Better graphics and presentation doesn't justify weaker gameplay for me....ever. Personally I had a LOT more fun playing Saints Row 2 which ironically enough felt like it was the proper sequel to San Andreas considering the huge number of diversions available ontop of the main missions. It also had that typical cranky humour associated with the GTA games, which in GTA IV was swapped for a more gritty and realistic tone.

Vice City was rockstar at their pinnacle. Nothing they've put out since that game has met the standards that game set.

I can't even go back to play the previous GTA game after 4. I've followed the series for years and GTA4 is easily the best in the series. Much greater, more detailed city, better variety in the radio stations, much better writing than in the other games, greatly refined gamplay, and unlike the previous GTA games, this one actually has good graphics. I put in more than 300 hours in the game, and I was very skeptic about the hype that followed too.

Really, I think that people were expecting somewhere between a San Andreas 2 or Vice City 2, but San Andreas put the wacky GTA formula to its highest potential, and instead of R* dragging on with the same gameplay, they refined and matured the design of the series. Some people loved it, some people hated it. But what I'm not getting is how people actually call it crap when there's nothing in the game that resembels below average quality. It's fine if you were diappointed but calling it crap is just an exaggeration.

God, Vice City was great. 80's music, Miami, beaches and speedboats, cocaine trafficking. What beats that? Instead I've now got GTA4 with some chick who won't stop calling me for dates and the neediest cousin I've ever had.F1_2004

All it takes is a simple press of the ignore button to get rid of someone calling to hang out.

How about we directly compare the gameplay? Both games have a bank robbery mission. GTA 4's bank robbery was far better and much more fleshed out.

I was so tired of the horrible ai in past GTA's. Even when randomly going postal the cops know how to take cover. No other sandbox game comes anywhere close to GTA 4's ai. I'l take the ai improvements over San Andreas's frills anyday.

The only thing I found better about Vice was the radio commercials. With the pc version you can play whatever music you want.

The only thing bad thing he said about GTA 4 is something thats easily taken care of. Shouldnt even be brought up.

I want to hear some real details why Vice is better. I'll give some reasons why its not. Vice Citys motorcycle crash damage was too realistic. When you die in Vice you lose all your weaps.

yea, gta4 is superior to all other gta games on paper....in practice its just not nearly as exciting

probably because its not fun to do virtual chores and hang out with virtual people in order to gain minor perks from them
