I highly disagree, Grand Theft Auto IV may have been more realistic and less relying on gameplay, but the gameplay that it had was excellent. I play the game almost every single day.

It's fun to experiment with the euphoria physics engine, and the voice acting and storyline is top notch. I think Rockstar has really outdone themselves. It's the best Grand Theft Auto game to date. I can't wait for the new expansion pack for Xbox 360. 8)

pal if you don't like it don't play it, but I think the game is good, much better than San Andreas

Nino_ze

Oh, ok... does that mean you're going to cut everyone who didn't like it a check for the money we spent on it? Since I payed for it based on the fact I've loved the entire series... I have a right to be unhappy when I find out it isn't as much fun as the rest. If you don't like it, don't listen to the complaining.

Edited to put the spaces back into my post. Fix your **** gamespot.

[QUOTE="Cranler"]

You bring up the lamest reasons for Vice City being better and GTA 4 worse. So every game should be in a tropical location with 80's music?

All it takes is a simple press of the ignore button to get rid of someone calling to hang out.

How about we directly compare the gameplay? Both games have a bank robbery mission. GTA 4's bank robbery was far better and much more fleshed out.

I was so tired of the horrible ai in past GTA's. Even when randomly going postal the cops know how to take cover. No other sandbox game comes anywhere close to GTA 4's ai. I'l take the ai improvements over San Andreas's frills anyday.

Cranler

I think he sums it up perfectly. It's taste I guess.

It doesnt make sense to bring up the location. Surely they'll make another based in a similar local.

The only thing I found better about Vice was the radio commercials. With the pc version you can play whatever music you want.

The only thing bad thing he said about GTA 4 is something thats easily taken care of. Shouldnt even be brought up.

I want to hear some real details why Vice is better. I'll give some reasons why its not. Vice Citys motorcycle crash damage was too realistic. When you die in Vice you lose all your weaps.

You sort of missed my point completely. My post wasn't the end-all comparison of VC vs 4, and you're a bit too anal with your responses. Having said that, a game is so much more than AI or some simple bank robbery mission. You can't break down a game into a checklist of technical things to score for game #1 vs. game #2.

GTA 4 had it's ups and downs. I loved the new driving, it had a great feel to it. Though it didn't have planes, bikes, vehicle customization, and many other things I loved about SA.

The game sucked, stop being in denial. Really. I mean 10? For a game that is like all the other gtas, just less stuff to do and boring character. Gta 4 is a 7,5-8.1kalli1

Now, are you sure your talking about GTA IV, the new liberty city is not one bit similar to the PS2 XBOX version of liberty city. Personally, this is my favorite game every since release, and is still my most played game, because of online though, if it wasnt for online, i would get tired of it.

Your complaints are what many foolishly complain about. The friend thinghas been mentioned a few times in this thread. Who cares if you get calls on your phone. Every 15 minutes you have to press a key to ignore call. Why does everyone make such a big deal about this?

Most aspects of games can be compared like that. Especially games so similar. I will say Vice had more personality than GTA 4, but all the techinical improvements overcome GTA 4's shortcomings and make it a better game.

It came out 6 years after Vice City. That's like saying Half life 2 is better than half life one because technically it's a more complex game. Or like saying Bioshock is better than System Shock 2 for the same reasons.

I had loads more fun playing Vice City (when it came out) than I have had playing GTA4. I put GTA4 down after 4 hours because it was a drag, the plot was stupid, and the atmosphere and scenery was too bland for me. Vice City was a hell of a lot of fun. It's the only GTA game I'd even think of replaying, and the only one I'd played the whole way through besides GTA3. San Andreas ported the plane missions horribly and I got stuck and lost interest at the same time. SA was still better than GTA4 imo cause you got to drive around in the countryside, the suburbs, or the city. It had variation.

I didn't find GTA 4 boring at all. Some might not like the change of the atmosphere compared to San Andreas, which in my opinion is a little bit darker/grayer. Now compared to GTA 3 which was it's time next gen, this game is a huge leap forward technologically, gameplay wise and graphics/physics wide too. My point is, that if they would've added more content, let's say as much as San Andreas has, do you really think that today's PC would've handled it properly when they kind of struggle with GTA 4 as it is? In my opinion in the upcoming GTA titles we will definitely see more content cause by than the PC's will be stronger and they will be able to handle them at a decent rate.

More content? How about a great game that's a bit shorter? Not everyone wants epic 200 hour games cause that can end up being a drag. I'd rather a 30 hour GTA experience with no filler missions and random extra crap than a long and dull game.

[QUOTE="GazaAli"]its really sad when developers do a sequel for a famous succsseful title horribly.i didnt play the game, but from what i hear from people, they changed the overall theme and feeling of the game.ijust dont understand why developers have to do this sometimes.i mean come on the title is good,it has a large fan base, why trying something completly new and ruin the game?????marriage0

I don't understand, people always go on about how sequels are just milking the franchise and how these games just keep getting churned out as the same old stuff but in a different setting, and now that Rockstar tries to take a different direction it's a bad thing?

for those who say it's a "piece of crap"... well I'm afraid you are just wrong, even if you didn't like the game personally, just from playing surely you can see just how much quality there is in this game. The animation is fantastic, the characters are varied and often funny, the world is incredibly detailed, the combat is well doneand there are a lot of missions that are genuinely original... and there is quite a lot of stuff to do after finishing the story (addmittedly, not as much as some of the previous games) such as the random friends dotted about the place, the missions for little jacob AND of course, the whole multiplayer suite...

so maybe it isn't as crazy or silly as some of the older games, if that's what you want in a game, go buy Saints Row 2... its generally a more wacky game and there is a lot of customization for you to play around with if that's what you are really bothered about...

I disagree.

GTA4 is a great game but it honestly does not deserve the sales or the scores it gets. I liked the game alot at first but when you get half way through the game the new characters are not as interesting and you will realize the game is REPETITIVE. Yeah almost every mission is drive here and kill that person. The graphics and details look nice but wear off over time. Their isn't alot of stuff to do and the whole friends system was annoying. The multiplayer is fun but not on PC were theirs like hackers everywhere.

finnally someone who saod its repettive...seriously a) go there/ pick someone up b) shoot your way through and kill someone/ do it with an ally c) mission completed drive your ally home/ OR chase someone with a vehicle and kill him/ or do it with an ally

GTA 4 = 15 minutes of fun then.....................what now? i have more fun playing forza motorsports 3 and i get bored of that game in an hour but atleast there is a point to it i just see gta 4 as a pointless game the other installments had a reason whether it was trying to find out the cheat code to make your car fly in gta vice city or the secret co-op mode in san andreas they in some way had something that kept us entertained this however is just a 15 minute of game type of game V_V #disappointed
