So I have thought about buying the game but was wondering if it ran as badly or worse than gta 4

I was thinking of getting that patch tonightWell, I haven't got the DLC yet but judging from how Gta IV runs for me, I guess the DLC will run the same. Oh and the patch really improved Gta IV alot. Should be the same for EFLC.

One thing I noticed though, fraps kills the framerate in this game! For some people even having fraps installed hurts the framerate. I sugget just trying it out without recording the fps, if it feels smooth than just play it. yea when i run fraps and get near water and in dense places it drops down below 20 but when i dont run anything and just the game it doesnt drop below 30fps
I downloaded the patch last night for gta 4 and saw no improvements so I guess gta 4 will rott on my shelf until I upgrade my computer

My rig - q6600 @ 3.6ghz, 5870, 4gb ram, windows 7 x64
Runs no better or worse as far as I can tell.
They've made the shadows less memory intensive so turning them on now only halves your framerate
Turning shadows off completely is the only way to go, having them on, you can feel the game straining under the weight of itself, looking from left to right is not smooth at all. With textures on medium and shadows off, framerate is bearable, still all over the shop and still drops below 30 at times for no disearnable reason.
Q9450@3.8, 5870, 4gb DDr2, Windows 7 ATI edition x64. resolution 2304x1440, everything maxed except shadows on high instead of very high so i can have my drawdistance and every other slider to 100%, also vsync is off. I didnt run the benchmark but i have fraps, min 35 fps to 100. outside it ranges from 40 to 50, sometimes 60. costyssj4fraps can screw the fps in this game.
Thats weird, it works fine for me on a lesser system. I run it all high, night shadows off, 1920*1080 or 1680*1050, draw distance 35 (25 if I leave vsync on), traffic density 51, and it plays awesome. Part of the issue is that you can turn the settings so much higher than you should, its meant to scale to hardware that isnt even available. My rig - q6600 @ 3.6ghz, 5870, 4gb ram, windows 7 x64

it plays awesome.

You're going to have to be more specific. One mans awesome is another mans unplayable. What sort of framerate are you getting? What's the lowest you've seen it dip to, what is the highest, what does it usually hover around? Do you notice any sluggish mouselook? Do you get stuttering?
