GTA V for pc?

I have to ask...is rockstar retarded? Why are they alienating possibly the biggest consumer base by late releasing a game, after everyone has already played it in the consoles and after all the hype has died down? If they wanted to, they could have delayed the game or pushed the pc version to launch the same time? Does anyone know whats up with these crackpot companies who originally start off with developing for the pc and then backstabbing?

The internet is rife with speculation about this.

Some claim that Sony and MS are paying Rockstar to keep it as a timed console exclusive. Others say that there is so much hype behind the game that PC gamers will buy the game twice if they delay the PC version, first when it comes out on console then again when it comes out later on PC. Others still point to piracy.

Rockstar themselves keep pretty quiet about it, saying they want to focus on the console versions to make them as good as possible, but obviously they have the resources to make high quality multiplats.

Welcome to 12 years ago, where GTA III was release months after the console version...and the exact same with every other GTA to date. I'll say it again, 12 years. Why? Sony, and now MS since the 360, pay to keep it a timed exclusive. Why again? Because it's such a major title that it sells them entire consoles. By paying R* to keep on those systems for a bit, they rake in much more sales (Sony/MS) and because selling a console game nets those two companies profit as well. On PC, sony/MS don't see anything out of sales of the game. This is why they pay R* to do it. It's not rocket science.

It'll be out in 2014. All GTA games to date are on PC, they wouldn't change that now. Although GTA4 at launch was a disaster but soon became the definitive version.

I honestly don't think its happening this time. 600K signatures and they have nothing to say? Why would the exclusive (and its not really exclusive since its multiplatform) matter anymore when its had record breaking sales?

Even if it doesn't come to PC I wouldn't worry too much. I've finished it and its an average game at best.

Last GTA sold around 3mill copies while selling 25mill on consoles, so do the math and you will see why Rockstar doesnt care about PC pirates.

You see they'll now dive into the DLC launch cycle and the more DLC's that come out now, the more we'll get bundled with the game when it does eventually come to PC. Exactly the same as they done with GTA IV :)

yes, pc is the biggest consumer base. All rockstar needs to do is sell the game on steam and millions of people will buy it. The reason gta IV sold so poorly on PC is because rockstar screwed it up soo bad and releasted it like an year later. Had they released it the same time as consoles they would have doubled the sales.

yeah, that would've been nice but didn't actually happen. bogt/latd came to consoles a few months after iv launched on the pc. the pc versions came later

Average at best? Are you kidding me? This game destroys nearly everything in GTA4. Maybe you could say the atmosphere was better in gta4?

There is more to do, better campaign, more interesting side missions, runs way better, cars handle better, having 3 characters to control is fantastic, you don't have to go play darts + crap with your gf and cousin all the f'ing time, Soundtrack is better, better gameplay, Online is better, Graphics are better and it is just a million times more fun than gta4 was for me. And in the game arn't games and especially GTA games suppose to be fun? I guess maybe I could give gta4 the better atmosphere? That is it for me.

Rockstar has stepped it up HUGE after the dissapointing gta4 imo, with the amazing RDR and now GTA5.

I would LOVE to hear you're reason why gta5 is average at best, when you previously couldn't stop talking about how amazing and fantastic gta4 was.

GTA5 brings GTA back to BEING FUN again like SA and VC was, GTA4 felt like a friggin chore to finish, seriously the only gta game that I had to force myself to finish. Besides some nice atmosphere in the game world and a decent story, gta 4 was extremely dissapointing and not only my least favorite GTA game but my least favorite rockstar game.

Hell, even Chinatown Wars was much more enjoyable than gta4 was for me, nevermind gta5.

Not sure how I managed to get the DLC content for GTA IV then, I bought it around launch and never paid for any DLC, yet I have Lost and the Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony. /shrug

I'm assuming you bought it on steam, possibly on a sale? If so it usually came bundled

I'm sure we'll see it at some stage - we just need to be patient. I got GTA IV soon after its release on PC and it felt like a badly ported disaster. If Rockstar take their time on this one and end up releasing a finished and high quality product, I'll be happy. It would be ridiculous if they ignored the petition. If Rockstar didn't release it for PC, it would be a very strange move, given the massive amount of money they could make...

I have so many games to beat it's insane. GTAV, while I am excited for it, I am not going to be getting it day one.

I don't mind waiting. A lot of people are getting out of their honeymoon phase with the game anyways.
