(isn't there some system shortcut that posts all your specs) thanks for the helps guys ^_^

GTA4 sometimes likes to run like crap for no reason, its notorious for being a pain in the butt technically.

Your probably never gonna get it to run well on that laptop except on the absolute lowest settings.

It isn't more demanding it is just badly programmed they have relied too heavily on the cpu and neglected the gpu. When I run the original GTA 4 on my PC it only uses 60% of the GPU (most other games show at least 80% usage). I am afraid to say if you have a dual core cpu then the best you can expect to get out of GTA 4/EFLC is console settings, 1280 x 720 and roughly 30fps.

if you buy SA, you have to buy SA version 1 which lets you have mods... version 2 was made to keep you from having mods, because of the nudity BS outcry when it first came out..

just a heads up Version 1 costs way more than version 2

Like makes it look more next-gen, rather than the iffy graphics (I don't mind that but I'd rather have better graphics lol) and eh price doesn't really concern me for now.

quick question, when I dl'd the 1.1 patch, they had 3 files, media 1, setup, and title update, when I launch title update nothing happens, it tells me to launch setup, when I launch that it updates it, but what do I do with the media1 (rar file)?

well the thing is you can scale the settings way past what you should. Dont try to max it and you should be fine, or atleast better than console. The console version runs at really low settings and the framerate crawls at about 25 fps and can dip to near single digits. Playing with a gamepad makes it less noticeable. The console version settings are something like this

Draw distance 21

Detail Distance 11

Traffic Density 33

Texture quality between medium and low (why we dont get the exact setting I dont know)

Trilinear filtering

shadows medium (but shadows are actually done completely differently)

Reflection medium

vsync off

definition off

and the console version still has plenty of framerate issues, and pretty much never runs at 30 fps.

I averaged around 60 frames with Vsync on. The only slowdown that I experienced occurred in one only one mission in Gay Tony. It is weird because it happens only in that mission.

860 x 480 = LOW GRAPHIC = GTA SAN ANDREAS LAGS 100 % (WITHOUT MODS)

460 X 480 X 16 = LOW GRAPHIC = GTA SAN ANDREAS = 50 % OF LAGS I MEAN SOME CARS ARE NOT LAGGY

BUT WHEN IS MOD BETWEEN MODS THE GAME LAGS ONLY THERE LAG PROBLEM FIXED FINNALLY WORKING FOR ME

I FOUND THE ANSWER TRY BUT ITS NOT COOL GRAPHIC ON DESKTOP BUT NOT LAGGY (FOR SOME CARS)

The game is almost not worth playing on a dual core cpu. I upgraded my mobo and to a quad core specifically for GTA 4

This is true, heck, it's recommended to use a quad core.

Yes the poster is correct but honestly 30fps is about what you'd get at best while looking at a wall. The game ran in the mid to low 20's on my old 2.66ghz C2D and when things really got heavy it hit the teens.

I'm sorry, but what? And you just revived a year-old thread.
