Lol, where the hell did you read that? ATi cards actually tend to have more detailed images. At least that was the case with the 9k series through the HD3k series and I would only assume that the image quality continues today.
I'm not knocking nVidia, they've always tended to create hardware that is great at bute force performance (except the 4 and 5 series lol) but could never compete with ATi on the image quality front.
When you get down to it though the differences are negligble. You would have to freeze individual frames to see the differences in the image quality.
