[QUOTE="evildead6789"] Says the guy with a crappy gtx 560 ti...Elann2008
Â
LOL. Â What I said was not intended to be a shot at the 660 Ti. Â Of course you would take it that way. Â The fact is that different people have different requirements for how much performance they are looking to buy. Â If a person absolutely wants and needs 60+ FPS in a specific game, and they need to spend $400 to get it, they will do it. Â Telling them that a card that's $100 less will give them 52 fps and is therefore a better value isn't getting them what they want. Â Performance per dollar is only worth something when the card hits the user's performance targets. Â
BTW, when I bought my particular version of 560 Ti (Gigabyte SOC- 2 years ago), it was the best performer for the dollar under $300, being a heavily factory OC'd version that is on par with a stock 570/6970 in most games. Â It has been a good investment, and is doing the job for me for the time being. Â That doesn't mean that I would've told someone not to buy a GTX 580, because my card provides better performance for the dollar. Â In fact, if you look at the "performance per dollar" charts that show up in many reviews, you'll see that the cheapest GPUs are often near the top. Â Does that make them smarter choices? Â Of course not. Â Not if you have the money to spend. Â

Exactly. Â Well said. Â And thank you.
Very well said, but I have to disagree. You're giving the average performance per dollar from the site techpowerup but you seem to have completely forgotten that the op isn't looking in this price range. He was talking about a gtx 670 and gtx 660. Which are like double or triple the price of a hd 7770.
You're giving the example of someone wanting 60 fps and instead only getting 52 fps but he never asked that. He's comparing a gtx 660 with a gtx 670 and is wondering if the gtx 660 isn't faster (which is totally not the case)
He also said he doesn't know a lot about this stuff, so i highly doubt he's thinking about 60 fps+ framerates, he just wants a good gaming experience but he has to save up another 200$ if he wants to buy that gtx 670.If you read what he says you can clearly understand he wants the fastest card possible for this budget.Â
If we give him advice, i think it's only fair we explain as much as we can. A gtx 670 maybe a very nice card, but it's hard to defend it's price if you look at the other options.
Tomshardware shows this very nicely in their monthy article 'best graphics cards for the money'
Â
You can see it when you read any review of the hd 7870 xt. The price is very sharp, the gtx 670 maybe a little bit faster but it's hard to defend like an extra 150-200$ for only a few fps more, In some cases the gtx 670 is even slower than the hd 7870 xt. If you off course really want to spend that kind of money, the gtx 670 is faster, but so are 4 geforce titans in sli, they cost 4000$, no sane person with a normal budget will buy it.
That doesn't mean when you buy the gtx 670 that your crazy, but you're paying top dollar for that 5 or 10 fps extra in some games.
And like i said , if you really want nvidia , the 660 ti seems a much better deal (for the op, a gtx660 and a gtx 660 ti are not the same, the gtx 660ti is considerably faster)
