Hopefully, but knowing Nvidia's not so competitive pricing, the 680 will probably stay the same price for a while, with the 780 being more expensive.

_Matt_

One of the etailers here in aus has already dropped their 680 prices, and even the 670's.

Nice. Here in the UK prices for 670 and 680 have been pretty consistent for a while, they are not likely to get major drops anytime soon.

no good, hopefully they follow soon and drop them for you. The 4GB 670 has dropped by $80 and the 4GB 680 by $100 (both evga). All brands have had a drop of some description though.

Quite a significant drop that. I think the EVGA 680 did drop a little here, but only by about 20 British pounds each model, so not enough to be excited over :/

To anyone thinking of upgrading here is my advice: skip each gen of cards. So if you have a 680 wait untill the 880 which will be Maxwell.

That is just in general but ofcoarse everyone plays different games, at different resolutions and have different expectations and so on and you should choose accordingly.

Do not base your upgrades on hardware cycles.

frankopan

Kip, I was planning to splurging for a 680 in june but now... advise me! This is a new rig I'm building btw. Around a 1600 dollar budget.

The 680 is still a very powerful and relaible card. If you buy one in June as you planned you will be very happy! There are certainly other helpful people here who im sure would be happy to advise, but my philosphy go along the lines of: If you decide to wait, you'll be waiting forever, so act now.

Mind telling what sort of games you plan on running as well as at what resolution?

Must say if the price drop on the 680 is big enough, I am tempted to buy another one (and include it in my WC loop if I do that as well)

Meh... unless I get a higher resolution monitor anytime soon my GTX 680 will do just fine for the next year or two, so Ill just skip the coming GPU's from both companies.

Hopefully 760 will beat 660ti and 760ti will beat 670.

I'm looking for something good for £180ish, maybe i should wait.

horgen123

Won't even a 650Ti be an upgrade for you?

650 is very similar performance to my 275, 650ti wouldn't be worth buying. 660 looks to be double my framerates so it looks like a good option.

All I hope is they have enough supply to meet demands as I recall the 600 Series and Titan, and I *Think* the 7000 Series had serious supply problems.

At this point, you're better off waiting for the 7xx Nvidia cards to come up which should be 1-2 months from now. GTX 6xx series cards should see a price drop, even if not by much, still better than nothing. Like Horgen asked, why not the GTX 670?

I'm planning on getting back in to GW2, BF3 and SC2. Haven't played Crysis 3 yet and I want to pick it up on sale which in my opinion is inevitable. I game at 1920x1080.

The Titan was practically impossible to get ahold of at launch.  I spent days looking for mine and had to get them shipped from California to Georgia.

That is because Nvidia only gave their top AIBs permission to release cards right away and the majority went to OEMs.

This is a bit different of a situation back when AMD released SI they did so a few months after TSMC started mass production on 28nm. The first 6-8months on a new process/node is generally really competitive with customers fighting each other for TSMC's very limited capacity. Once they have those 6-8 months to ramp production, things start to settle down as capacity meets demand.

It's gonna get worse when having AA on for next gen games.

I think I'm gonna hold on to my Titans until Maxwell.

Having said that, I think that the GTX 780 Titan LE will be killer, and probably can be overclocked into a Titan.

Yeah you'll be right! Ask around though.

EDIT: If i could give someone my digital copy of crysis 3 on origin for free, would.

I plan on doing the same. I think the Titan will be the most powerful SINGLE gpu for a while now, until the Maxwell 880.

It'll be a long time my friend, a long time.

Nice. Here in the UK prices for 670 and 680 have been pretty consistent for a while, they are not likely to get major drops anytime soon.

At least some mid-range cards like gtx660 and 7850 they have become quite cheap in UK the last few days. I found a Pny gtx660 on amazon for 145pounds and though i said i wouldnt upgrade until nvidia and Amd release their next gen cards i might pick a 660 or a 7850 seeing prices under 150pounds ( hopefully they will drop even more )

To those asking why not a 670, i'm super poor atm :(

Probably gonna wait till the 700 series, trying to sort out a pc for my friend asap (his laptop just died), he might buy my 275.

Still runs most games fine. BF3 was the first game i played on medium, followed by far cry 3. Everything else runs fine at high settings.

LOL...those cards really make the next gen console ancients piece of crap... the news cards are so much more advance!
