GW2 is looking more and more interesting. its a complete departure from GW1 (also fantastic) so its going to be very fresh. i just hope they dont have the things i hate about MMOs.....the grind being the main thing. im lookin forward to it though.osan0
Guild Wars 2 will have the kind of extensive character advancement appropriate to a persistent-world RPG. Our goal is to avoid forcing players into the grind-based gameplay that too often accompanies a high level cap.

Not bashing GW2....but EVERY MMO promises that before release.... GW2 actually has a story and a system that makes quests/encounters harder depending on the number of people doing the quest. Meaning, if you take the quest to "Defend the City" and 5 people are already there, you being the 6th means harder/more mobs will spawn, rather than you all gang killing the one trying to get the drops. in WoW, quests are just, "Collect X number of Y and return here" or, "Kill X monsters Y times",[QUOTE="FelipeInside"][QUOTE="firefluff3"]Not bashing GW2....but EVERY MMO promises that before release.... I know I know...but I've heard it all before....
WAR promised a revolutionary new quest system.... and look where it is now. Hope GW2 can deliver...

Gw1 delivered that before, no doubt gw2 can still deliver that experience. I rarely say that, but first day purchase for me. I don't even care about the criticsGW2 is looking more and more interesting. its a complete departure from GW1 (also fantastic) so its going to be very fresh. i just hope they dont have the things i hate about MMOs.....the grind being the main thing. im lookin forward to it though.osan0
considering the first GW didnt have much grinding, except a lil here and there for certain quests, i hope that GW2 will be similar. the level 20 cap was nice since it had the fun of lvling up and was still fun at after reaching lvl 20

ouch the bear and the emu just kicked the crap outa the walking dog.
my only problem with guild wars 1 (well, only mmorpg i've ever played so this may be true for all of them) is that finding a party is hard. It's pretty easy on the bigger levels/ early game but once you get onto some obscure part in the middle of no where, finding a group and the right type of characters was hard. Even after joining a guild, a small one at that, it was hard to be at the right level at the same time.
I'm hoping the partying up system is easier this time. I get it's something out of the hands of the developers but if they could come up with a nice, intuitive way to team up, i'd love them so much more.

What do you mean by not much grinding?I was really looking forward to this game for quite a while, and all of the gameplay videos they have shown so far have exceeded my expectations. They are rather contrived scenarios, obviously, but everything they've shown so far just looks amazing. This game will be a day one purchase for sure. Maybe this game will revolutionize the genre like WoW before it. Even if it doesn't, I'm sure it will be a blast, and with no subscription fee, getting this game should be a no brainer for anyone who likes MMORPGs at all.StopThePressesThat's the thing... all you are going for day one purchase is on graphics...

Dudee..... take a chill pill.
Geez, talk about taking everything personally.
I was just saying that I haven't seen actual GAMEPLAY videos yet, like with the HUD bars and everything, to see how those skills work.... and was asking if there were any.
No need to lash out....
[QUOTE="Kh1ndjal"]my hype level for this game is through the roof. and this time we wont need a monk for our barrage rangers group :) this, too, is a day one purchase for me assuming there is no preorder. they are just keeping all the things i loved in the game and taking it into a direction that would make it better. i cannot wait to hit character creation and create a charr rangerFelipeInsideSo we are 100% POSITIVE that it is a consistent world? Like WoW...? or instanced like GW1....?
omitting towns yes
looks like hunter (from wow) rip off !
traps ? pet skills , some of them are even the same ...Farkeman
There are only so many things you can do in designing a game before you just start getting weird and rather unintuitive just for the sake of being different. Some things are standard for a reason. Mechanically, it makes sense for a profession that is at its best when enemies are at a distance to have traps that punish them for closing in. Most games tend to be grounded in something familiar on some level. That is problem number four.

Exactly. WAR still feels like a grind, like another MMO, like another World of Warcraft.[QUOTE="ionusX"][QUOTE="FelipeInside"] So we are 100% POSITIVE that it is a consistent world? Like WoW...? or instanced like GW1....?FelipeInside

Please explain....all open rea the countrysie, dungeons an etc are 1 area the towns and villages ar another.. you wouldnt want ppl aggroing a horde of charr or something into the capital like ppl do raid bosses in WoW WOULD YOU?
rangers were pretty terrible in GW1, can't imagine they'd be much better this time around.
Swedish_Chef
what you talking about they were awesome only recently have they REALLY started circling the drain. before they had alot of good combo's and could WRECK some classes up in pvp. i remember taking all sorts of casters to school before they retooled broad head arrow

ArenaNet is a computer game developer and part of NCsoft Corporation, founded in 2000 by Mike O'Brien, Patrick Wyatt and Jeff Strain and located in Bellevue, Washington... On September 10, 2008, NCsoft announced that all their North American and European subsidiaries, including ArenaNet, were to be governed by a new division named NC West (a tentative name), headquartered in Seattle, Washington

and yes, you sound a bit racist with that statement, but be happy, this game is 100% american.
