If you could only afford one or have time to play one.

Borderlands is one of my favorite games this generation and I could not be more excited for the second. On the contrary, I could not be less interested in Guild Wars 2.
Borderlands was fun specially with friends but lately I've been to few mmo and would have to say mmo for for the win, so guilds wars 2 but I'll get borderlands eventually but for console since all my friends are there with the first games..

this is also my take.
Those games are very different from each other.
But, considering my recent posts on this board, I think it goes without saying that I'd go with Borderlands 2.
Guild Wars 2 just because Borderlands 1 was one of the most boring shooters i've ever played. It felt like I was playing an mmo with guns but with worse quests than WoW. Hopefully Borderlands 2 improves on that but i'll be playing Guild Wars 2 all September.
guildwars 2
borderlands has a noticeable problem with it for me. and that that after the 1st time i stopped playing i was never able to pick it up again and commit myself to it again. it also doesnt help that gearbox decided to put its badidea pants on when making it and hooked it up to poopy gamespy/gamecomrade
Well I played the beta for guild wars 2 and the events all felt like crazy spamfests. Even the PvP felt like I was just cycling through my weapons loadouts and blowing all my cooldows as fast as possible. Now, it wasn't bad but if I'm going to be playing in a multiplayer facerolling spamfest..it got me thinking...why not check out borderlands 2? Keep in mind, I am still leaning towards Guild Wars 2.
Taking advantage of the discussion, i want to ask:
IF I WANT TO PLAY SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN, WHICH ONE IS BETTER.
Are they actually focused in single player campaign? I want to give them a try.
GW2, a RPG concept for a FPS is just...crappy since when you get "loot" for Borderlands it's just a different looking gun with different damage (omg like every other FPS!!!).
I'll play Borderlands 2 down the road when it's dirt cheap.
GW 2 has no singleplayer and playing it only solo is terrible and in some cases impossible.Taking advantage of the discussion, i want to ask:

GW2 has a personal story thing, and story versions of dungeons, and 99% of the content can be played without having to create a party. as for borelands 2, if it was anything like the first, the quests (in fact the whole game) are just boring fetch quests you'd expect from a poor WoW clone, and gear grinding.Taking advantage of the discussion, i want to ask:

Lets be honest the PvE is just average in GW2, there are MMO's that do it much better. GW2 main attraction is the PvP content.
If your looking for a SP campain game Borderlands 2 is a better bet, but it's still made to be a co-op shooter and is about 10x as fun with other players. Also comparing Borderlands to WoW is ignorant. Borderlands is a FPS where the gameplay is the main driving force as opposed to WoW where progression is. No one cares what the quest are in Borderlands because it's fun just shooting things and finding new weapons.
Personally if your not willing to play co-op in Borderlands 2 or participate in the PvP in GW2 I would skip both and get Dark Souls when it comes out for PC. It's an amazing SP (though it has MP components) RPG.

i'm sorry, but i disagree. GW2's PvE is the best i've seen in any MMO, and better than many single player games out there. borelands has bad gameplay and extremely annoying, repetitive mission structure. it's just like WoW, but with pointing at stuff instead of hotkeys.[QUOTE="Croag821"][QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] GW2 has a personal story thing, and story versions of dungeons, and 99% of the content can be played without having to create a party. as for borelands 2, if it was anything like the first, the quests (in fact the whole game) are just boring fetch quests you'd expect from a poor WoW clone, and gear grinding.BrunoBRS

no, i just love the kind of environment you can only get in an MMO, and GW2 makes the stuff to do in that world actually fun for a change. partially because the combat is extremely enjoyable, partially because of the sightseeing, partially because of all the emphasis on exploring and hidden, non-combat challenges spread everywhere, part because of how dynamic events work and group people together. it's exactly everything i've ever looked for in an MMO, so of course i'll be gushing all over it.[QUOTE="Croag821"][QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] GW2 has a personal story thing, and story versions of dungeons, and 99% of the content can be played without having to create a party. as for borelands 2, if it was anything like the first, the quests (in fact the whole game) are just boring fetch quests you'd expect from a poor WoW clone, and gear grinding.BrunoBRS

Or buy both.
Honestly both are solid games well worth their box price. It's just a question of do you want a co-op class based shooter with millions of guns or solid MMO with some interesting features and great PvP.

well im glad it cracked you up..it was a joke after all. I think everyone here can ...at some level understand why both games are good games. It's a little silly to say that either game has crappy PvE and the other one has amazing PvE. They essentially both follow the same PvE structures.
