First of all let me just say that I was worried if my new PC could run Counter Strike Source or Halo PC (I've never played a real PC game before). So I was just going to get one of those games since I love Halo 1 and have always wanted to try out CS. Well I just found out that my PC can run CoD 4 on recommended settings and also Crysis (even though I don't want it). So now that I know I can run most every game, what game should I buy, keep in mind I've never played a PC shooter before.

Halo: I absolutely love it on Xbox, I've beaten it about 50 times and am dying to play Blood Gulch online, but it is a older games and I'm not sure if anyone still plays it, and I'm not sure if the warthog will be as fun to use.

Counter-Strike; Source: I've always wanted to try CS, and it looks pretty fun, but seeing as that is what all the HC players play, I don't want to get owned for two months while I get the hang of the PC.

Call of Duty 4: I love it on 360 more than I thought a modern game could be loved, but I've always wanted to see what a CoD game would be like on PC and also I want all those modded maps.

Company of heroes: I like 360 RTS' but the controls are frustrating, I think CoH looks amazing and I heard that RTS' are better on PC.

So what game should I get as my first PC game?

I already have it for 360 and , although I liked it, I'm not the biggest fan. Unless HL2 and TF2 are way better on PC there is no reason for me to get The Orange Box. I absolutely LOVED Portal though:)

Id say Counter-strike and Call of duty 1-4 are best of your choices. What about S.T.A.L.K.E.R?

And any Command & Conquer is pretty much my favorite RTS, Dwan of war is also very good.

And what about Spore? I play it for five days now, and like i lot.

i know you said you dint want crysis, but crysis warhead is extremely awesome. i felt it was much faster paced, which judging by the fact that you like cod 4 youll also like this. its only $30. best $30 i spent on a pc game.

Can you play Crysis Warhead online though? And is it better than regular Crysis? What's the real difference between Warhead and Crysis?

TF2 is not even the same game on the 360. Just get the Valve Complete Pack from Steam. Its all the FPS that you will ever need. Its every Valve game ever for less than the price of 2 PC games.

well thee warhead online (called "crysis wars" is extremely improved. the performance is improved. The gameplay has less "lowpoints" in the missions. The cutscenes are much improved. Psycho is 100x more aweesome than nomad. Better set pieces. Better A.I, especially on the alien side.

Get the Orange Box, first and foremost. TF2 PC is considered to be the best online MP shooter at the moment.

Also, I'd recommend the Call of Duty Warchest if you want to get into PC-esque CoD - CoD4 is more "consolish" than the older games and hasn't gone through long-term modding yet, which means that you won't be downloading that many maps and mods for it (user created content is an awesome PC game feature if you know how to get the right ones).

For RTSs, I'd recommend you start with Command and Conquer: The First Decade, the Dawn of War: Platinum Edition and the Warcraft III Battlechest. Then get the Company of Heroes: Gold Edition and the Starcraft Battlechest (MP) once you're good with the aforementioned RTS. Then lastly get either the Rome: Total War Gold Edition or Medieval II: Total War Gold Edition. This is ordered in increasing levels of difficulty and complexity.

Gamestop and EB have no Orange Box:(Hickamie14

You could buy it from Steam, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, Some Radio Shacks, I saw it at a gas station once.

EDIT: Or just buy the Valve Complete Pack. http://store.steampowered.com/sub/478/ I mean look at all those games:shock:

The problem with Stam is I don't have a credit card yet, and i wanted to go to gamestop to trade in my copy of the Orange Box on 360. Maybe I'll just go to my local gas station lol.

Did you call up your local Gamestop to see if they had the Orange Box for PC? If not You could always just buy a Visa Giftcard or something and buy it on Steam that way.

Weapons, vehicles, etc. are different as well.

The story between the 2 games are the same, just told in different perspectives:

Crysis - Nomad

Crysis Warhead - Psycho

(They were squadmates in the original)

skip Halo. you're better off with 2 or 3 unless you're a serious collector.

CSS has a steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it's totally worth it.

If you already have COD4 on another system, I personally wouldn't buy it again even if you'll get mods/maps. They're cool and all, but the modding experience feels underwhelming IMO and buying the same game twice feels like a waste of money. Until your 360 version breaks, there's not much of a reason.

Don't have much of an opinion on COH, but it sounds good.

Crysis is a decent game, but other than great graphics, you're not missing much. It's good for a singleplayer FPS (multiplayer was just pathetic), though it's worth no more than $20-$40

Why, do people not play Halo online anymore?
