Anonymous are scum. The quicker these basement dwellers fade the better.

In a way I like Anonymous for what they stood for and their stance on certain issues. I liked some of the things they did, however they went overboard too often and ruined a lot of things for people that weren't really a problem until they intervened.

If they only hacked cartels and rapists, and actually had a good cause behind them I would be very sympathetic to them. But I am not. I hope they do get locked up.

My problem with Anonymous is that they don't seem to know what they stand for. They claimed to be fighting for people's rights with the PS3 but then shut down the PSN for everyone....

ITT: people don't understand anonymous.

There is no movement, there is no group, there are no leaders.

If you do something without identifying yourself, you are anonymous. Most anonymous reside on the chans because you don't identify yourself there.

A bunch of unnamed people occasionally get together and do something.

Next time you read about anonymous replace it with the phrase "A group of people"

That was one of the situations I was implying actually. It was ridiculous and they did it with another platform from what I remember.

Also, most of are aware of what Anonymous really is but it's always just easier to refer to them like this. However unlikely it may be considering the number of people who involve themselves in this, for all we know, the people involved in attacks on government websites could be the same people who attacked the PSN.

All I'm saying is that each time it happens, the people responsible refer to themselves as Anonymous, might as well group the other Anonymous people with them. It's always some dickhole from one of the chan boards.

I like some of the things they do to get a message accross to companies that think they can screw people around, but they are cocky and imature and I hope they get locked away and drop several bars of soap on several different days.

the problem is, anonymous will never fade. you ever read 1984? great book. in it, theres an organization called "the brotherhood." its a resistance movement that has no leaders (except for goldstein, the spokesperson of the group), none of its members know each other, and all of its members are faceless. Its like an army of V's from V for vendetta. and thats what anonymous is. Its more of an idea than an organization, which is why anonymous will never be taken down. they are everywhere, and they are nowhere. they are like a hydra, the more heads you cut off, the more heads will grow.

oh and, TC, the hacker group was LulzSec, not anonymous.

I thought what they were doing was a cool alternative for protesting. I'd say the penalty is pretty hefty, but hey, what do I know. Let the Government keep walking over us.

Disagree. The more thugs that are taken down the more likely it is to scare others off. You can spin it as 'they here and there' and other myths but the fact is that there are tangible elements to this: people who are now being arrested and punished because they could be found. Fact.

I would agree with you, however there is no way to arrest every last member of anon. an anon could be anybody, so nobody knows how many of them there are. there could be a million of them for all we know

this too. there are some hackers out there who are really good at what they do. not trying to exagerate, but i personally know some guys who are really good and operate on extreme levels to keep their identities secret

As you would see I was responding to the person who I quoted in the first sentence. The rest of the stuff I said was a half response to the other guy who posted above me. I wasn't talking to the person, they brought up the topic and I just said some stuff in relation to it. I don't think it was that hard to follow, nor was it a big deal for me not to quote the guy. At least not big enough a deal to make a vague and pointless 3 word post about. Next time, get to the point.
