I had a 350what Antec Smart Power that lasted about 2 years, last night my PC froze up solid and would not reboot. Heard a high pitched sound from somewhere, after some deducing I found it was coming from the power suppply. Went out to staples and got a new Antec Basiq 350Wattt power supply. I am running Asus Probe to see how its running. Here are the stats:

+12V = 12.585

+5V = 5.51 more or less (and its RED and FLASHING)

+3.3V = 3.296

Vcore = 3.056

This is just a snapshot, but they move a lot. Is this too high on the +5V? The PS was only $50 bucks and I am planning on doing a brand new rig, case and all, next year. Just dont want to fry my stuff before then.

Check voltages with multimeter, not software.

Ok and update, I checked in the BOIS at startup and the readings are fine. From what I have read those apps are very error prone. The BIOS is sure.

Seems to be running fine, I just needed a cheap PS to get me by, when I get a new system I will get a good PS, something in the 500W-1000W range.

Another question: If a power supply is rated at 1000 watts, does that mean it is using that much all the time or it can just supply that much? That would suck, could really hurt my power bill :)
