Hello all, could someone help me out with a problem with the menu, my mouse pointer is invisible and I can't see where it is to navigate. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit if that's relevant. Thanks.

OK how do I do that, I have taken the screenshot on steam but the image size is too big to post?...It will just be a picture of the menu without a mouse pointer though?...
I know I'm a dick but I've only just started gaming and I don't know how to open up the console?...is there a guide you could point me to please.
this problem happens to me, too. i dont know how to fix it, either. :(yellosnolvr
Thank god for that, sorry that it happens to you too but I must admit I feel better knowing I'm not the only one.

it happens with all source games for me. tf2, l4d2, hl2, css, and alien swarm. it might be an engine problem. as for the console, go to options > controls > advanced > enable the console then press the ~ key to open itMost people here will help regardless if you started gaming recently. On the main menu (i figured this will be hard to seeing as you cant see your pointer). Click on options, then keyboard, and check "enable console command" click apply and then press tilde, should be the first key above Tab, then type each command i previous posted.I know I'm a dick but I've only just started gaming and I don't know how to open up the cosole?...is there a guide you could point me to please.

Ahh thanks!
ARRGGHHH, I just got to the keyboard option and enabled it then flicked back to this screen to see the options you said and the bloody game stopped responding!
When I opened steam, I got a message about problems with steam running in xp mode, could this be causing it. Honestly I didn't know I had an xp mode, especially since on the microsoft site it says it's unavailable for the home premium windows 7?...
These are the only options I can see?...

God this is driving me mad, I've spent hours just trying to get the bloody mouse to show, I can see the appeal in consoles, put it in and play the game!.
[QUOTE="leeandziggy"]You have to type them inWhen I enabled the console, those options you mentioned never appeard?...

So, when I click enabled, it puts me back to the options screen with the options I linked to. I just start typing over another option, like jump or something?...I was looking around for how to access the console commands and it said all I have to do once they are enabled is to press the ~ key. On the main menu it does nothing, do I have to be in the keyboard options tab for it to work?...
Does not it help that simply press the " button (the button which is right next to the 1) to open console??

No, not on the main menu or when I finally am able to guess correctly and land on the options button, " and ~ do nothing at all?...
Is there a way to select those options without launching the game because it's the equivelent of playing spot the ball when it's launched.
It's the operating system then?..Which one would work then XP?...could you PLEASE explain how to do that. Would that mean having to buy Windows XP?...
Surely he wouldn't have to install XP to run it, there are plenty of people around running source games on Win7 64. I have 32 bit Win7 and they run without issue. Surely it has to be something else, graphics or mouse drivers maybe? With all the hard drive space most people have these days why not install multiple operating systems so you don't have to do stuff like this ?

My mouse as I said is wireless, it's a logitech trackball. I have a standard wired mouse here somewhere but I can't find it at the moment, I will try that out next. With all the hard drive space most people have these days why not install multiple operating systems so you don't have to do stuff like this ?

When a game dosen't work in Windows 7, it asks me if I want to try to run it in XP mode. Can I manually select it to do that?...
