Hmmm... this one is a tough one. I liked both almost equally for different reasons. For Half-Life 2 it had an engaging story, very good characters and interaction, and a good variety in things to do and puzzles to solve. Plus HL2 gave off this epic feel to it and it further blurs the line between a game and a movie for me. On the other hand, Far Cry was awesome as well. It's strongest point is the replay value and I find I'm more willing to go through another run of Far Cry then I am of HL2 because of the large maps, free roaming, and incredible AI. Although it does lack in story (I mean, it was predictable) and the characters were lacking as well. Seriously, am I the only one that thinks Serious Sam everytime I see Jack? Anyways, Overall, I think I like HL2 better but Farcry has kept me going back more often. I'm a story and character whore afterall. :D
