What in the hell is Microsoft thinking?  The same thing is happening which happened to the first Halo port:  Mediocre graphics with steep system requirements.  The resolutions and textures aren't even that good compared to Halo 2 on Xbox, let alone other PC games at the moment, yet the requirements are rediculous, not to mention requiring vista.  Don't get me wrong, I have a Vista/8800 GTX PC on the way soon, and I can sure run the game, but it looks like the same thing is happening.  Not to mention paying 50 bucks for a game which came out 3 years ago, the only new feature being a map editor which in my opinion is the only thing saving this game from total PC floppage. :(

What is this crap? Whoops, it is your post. While it may be 3 years old. Halo2 for Vista looks a hell of a lot better then its XB360 counterpart. Instead of whining how about you do research? Better yet. Go get a clue.

As with any product, vote with your dollars, or lack thereof.

As for me, I'll be buying it.

Whether or not it came out three years ago for xbox is illrelevant to me, because its new to me.

Graphics don't look like they are Crysis level, but they look as good as pretty much any other FPS on the market IMO.

Oh, sorry, my mistake.  I guess having purchased Halo 2 for XB/360 and having looked at various screens and articles on the PC version means nothing at all.  I really need to get a clue.
[end sarcasm]

Shut the hell up.  All I was saying was the graphics aren't that good for the system requirements that are needed to play the game.  The game will sure as hell be a lot better than the Xbox version simply because of the mouse and keyboard, I'm just saying requiring Vista, steep system requirements, and having to use some PC version of LIVE is rediculous for a game that's just being ported from 3 years ago.

The only thing that is rediculous is you. Like I stated before how about you do some research? One of the buying points for me is the PC version of live. I spent a lot of money on my computer and I am happy that soon, I will be able to play one of the best shooters ON my p.c.

Since, you can't see that far past your narrow view, you have to go whine.  You, have two options. You can either play it or not. It can't get any simplier then that.

Do research on WHAT?  I already knew everything you have stated.  You simply can't make up an argument relative to what I said so you say: "Go research."

What I am saying is the game is HARDLY getting any upgrade at all, yet is requiring hundreds of dollars to play a game that, in my opinion, doesn't hold a candle to any current FPS games.  Whether I, personally, will be buying the game or not is irrelevent to anything I'm saying, I'm just ranting about how rediculous microsoft and their crappy LIVE service (not to mention Halo 2's crappy matchmakings service) sucks.

The hell is that I have been playing Halo2 so much on the 360, that I forgot. Now, go sit back in the corner. You knew what I meant but you insisted on being an a$$.

Checkmate. Many others believe it does hold a candle to current FPS games. I am done here.

They could of probably easily made this game for XP, but microsoft wants people to buy vista. I doubt many people will actualy buy vista for just this game.

I would be safe to say that your doubt would be wrong. Just look at all the console bashing that goes on in this forum. If you go by that, then the most of not all of them haven't played Halo, let alone Halo2.

Stop saying crap like "NEXT!" and "Checkmate" etc when you haven't even proven a point.  People bash Halo 2 because the gameplay is too similar and is simply beaten by a LOT of PC games.  Just because you don't agree with this doesn't mean people don't have a say in anything and are disproven by your ignorant statements.  I'm pretty sure that it is YOU who need to play more PC FPS games, not us that need to play Halo 2 (and I guarantee you, 95% of the people on this board have.)

Ok lets state what you think again. I said "buy vista just for this game." So this person you are talking about... thinks that
139$ Vista + 50$ Halo 2 + 3year wait + your approval  = Good Deal
100$Xbox + 26$Halo 2 = Bad Deal

Although I agree with you, that is simply opinion based.  What is stupid about this Halo 2 guy is he thinks just because he likes Halo 2, it's direct port with SLIGHTLY better graphics warrnts 150+ dollars in upgrades just to play a game we can already play on Xbox which wasn't even the best to begin with.

Halo 1 on PC was far superior on the PC with better controls (mouse and keyboard for a FPS obviously) and the graphics were alot crisper and smoother. Halo 2 looks to be following suit....

well gamers won't buy Vista for that - you can see all games in the "Games for Vista" trailer - Shadowrun, Hellgate: London, Crysis, Alan Wake and some other games - for those games people will buy Vista and not for crappy Halo 2

I would be safe to say that your doubt would be wrong. Just look at all the console bashing that goes on in this forum. If you go by that, then the most of not all of them haven't played Halo, let alone Halo2.

Could you rephrase this so I can understand it. I think what your trying to say is that people will upgrade to vista and buy this game because they think that consoles suck and dont want to buy one for halo 2.

No need to rephrase. You got my point. NEXT!

Umm Halo 2 blows. If you actually think it can beat CS Source, or just about any other good PC FPS, you have NO CLUE. NEXT.

That was just as pointless as anything he said..........

So was what you just posted.

Halo 2 blows.............yeah real meaningful, you should write reviews.

ooo this box thing looks coool.. btw pc ftw

This will be just like Jade Empire port. 7.5 score from GS or so. The only (major) long-delayed port that was successful in recent years was GTA, and if Bioware couldn't pull it off, then MS games' chances are very slim. I wouldn't buy it even if didn't require vista. I can't buy every decent shooter out there. There are enough GREAT shooters coming out. But hey, let the folks who enjoyed it 3 years ago on XBOX buy it again and write rave reviews. By all means.

The original poster has it all right. Requiring windows vista and steep system requirements is fubared. If you don't know what that means google it. Google Fubar! Means fed utterly beyond all recognition!

The first port was pretty good. Their was good online multiplayer. The Xbox version didnt. Also the graphics were ok and the requirements were not steep at all. I hope the Halo 2 PC community would be better than the Halo 1 PC community (more mods, and custom maps).

Not steep at all maybe today.  When it first came out for PC you needed an insane rig to play it without any dips.  Halo 2 is looking to be the same.

Halo: 733MHz, 32MB VRAM wasn't very high in 2003, between Far Cry (2004) and WarCraft III (2002), it was the norm

Previous Halo was really fun untill alot of people started hacking but without that its a really fun game. I think we have to wait before we make a judgement, Halo 2 might have been crap on the XBOX but it doesn't automaticly mean it will suck on the PC, they probably fixed alot of stuff and the requirements won't be that bad. One thing that annoyes me is that it's a Vista release, really wish it was multi OS

Mister, those were the minimum requirements. Back then, even gamers who had a 3.0 p4 machine(which was considered powerful at that time) still had some framerate issues. And for what? Really outdated graphics when we had better and gorgeous looking FPSs on the pc at that time like Butcher bay and so many more. I can still imagine how ugly captain keyes looked on my pc...

What is this crap? Whoops, it is your post. While it may be 3 years old. Halo2 for Vista looks a hell of a lot better then its XB360 counterpart. Instead of whining how about you do research? Better yet. Go get a clue.

One of the buying points for me the PC version of live. I spent a lot of damn money on my computer and I am happy that soon, I will be able to play one of the best shooters ON my p.c.

You are right, Albert.  The same thing is happening, except this time it is even worse than when Halo finally arrived on the PC.  This time, Microsoft is requiring you to buy a new version of their OS and is requiring you to have DX10.  Neither of which were necessary for games that were released the same time Halo 2 was originally on sale.  I personally have no problem advancing PC's further, but Halo 2 is hardly a game that requires the two stipulations that Microsoft is placing on PC gamers.

In my cynical nature, I see this as another attempt by Microsoft to make PC gaming look bad.  I also can only wonder what their true intention of the Live Anywhere initiative they are about to embark upon.  They certainly aren't going to let the Xbox 360 look bad against PC gamers with a mouse and keyboard, that's for sure.  So how are they going to further penalize PC gamers in an attempt at making the Xbox 360 look like a better alternative to PC gaming?
