[QUOTE="TerrorRizzing"][QUOTE="GuitarPAaron"] It's dead. Or very close toGuitarPAaron2k4 is better than ut3, despite the obvious graphics winner. I could not agree more. 2k4 is still more alive and its significantly more fun.
yes, but i still LOVE UT3. fantastic game. I think it deserves more acclaim and attention than it gets.
[QUOTE="Cyburr_Police"]oh yeah defo this, and maybe l4d as it can be very funny at the worst times, Also on your thread title i would argue that Battlefield is the best multiplayer game ever ( Is ay Battlefield because you just said Halo without saying which one)Team Fortress 2.
sonofsmeagle
yeah, battlefield as a series is definately up there.
You know for how generic people say Halo is when you try to compare it to other games it really does stand out. Sure people can debate about the quality of the product but it certainly has its own style despite the hordes of haters that call it generic. 6matt6Run, jump, and shoot. With some vehicle sprinkled in. Seems pretty generic to me. I'm not saying that the game isn't fun, I enjoyed it, but it is generic and far from the best multi-player game.
[QUOTE="Cyburr_Police"]Oddly enough, yeah I guess when it comes to non-realistic shooters on PC, Hat Fortress 2 would be pretty up there.Team Fortress 2.

What multiplayer shooter would you consider "realistic" because the only ones I can think of most people have never played or heard of.

What? First of all puncuation is important. Secondly it really is quite generic. Sure there are some plasma rifles and Wraiths, but when it comes down to it people generally use the assault rifles, sniper rifles, and rocket launchers. Plasma grenades are frequently used I suppose but it's not like it's the game that invented sticky grenades. Halo isn't all that special and compmared to the other plethera of pc shooters, it would just fade into the background, much like the first 2 did. (Plus halo 2 for Vista was just stupid. A total ploy to get people to upgrade their OS)

Halo is great for a CONSOLE FPS.. It created a unique experience leaps and bounds over any other fps for the CONSOLE.. To me I think it doesn't give the game justice if we put it in the perspective of pc shooters.. Because it wasn't designed for them to begin with.. The only thing I can say that I thought was a nice touch was the co-op multiplayer something extremely new for a shooter of that time, ironically enough it didn't ship with the pc version of it.
I can agree with this. It was revolutionary for the Xbox. I'll agree with that. But for the pc it really isn't anything special. I played through it and it was just dull on the computer. It felt almost painfully generic.Halo is great for a CONSOLE FPS.. It created a unique experience leaps and bounds over any other fps for the CONSOLE.. I know what TC is getting at. TF2 isn't the "fun" alternative to Halo. I mean, TF2 is fricking GREAT, but when he mentions Halo Reach fails, I think he's referring to just the random stupid and funny plays people do with vehicles and equipment, specifically something like this. (Roosterteeth's Achievement Hunter "Fails of the Weak")
TF2 does have the random element and there are some good videos, but the way a Halo multiplayer match is (if everyone is using vehicles, equipment, etc.) it's very nearly almost like a sandbox shooter. TF2 has the mods and whatnot, but IMO Halo's multiplayer is actually really unique.
Of course it's unique when you compare it to arena shooters, try ETQW and BC 2, because you have the tools to have random fun (I can't even drive a vehicle in either of em, because I do "stupid" fun stuff with them, especially with team mates in them - only real life friends, I don't exit the atv when I know a tank is right at the next corner saying "oh, there's my stop" with random players-).
For a game to be "Halo" fun, you need physics (pretty much any game has em nowadays), vehicles, explosives and creativity.
I was gonna mention BC2 lol. That I think is the closest a military shooter gets to Halo (it's a good thing!) but Halo has the benefit of having crazier alien weaponry. Call me crazy, but Halo combines the elements of both arena shooters and more open environment shooters.
People call Halo generic, and use words like run, jump, shoot, people use the same guns. That's just about prevalent in every multiplayer online shooter. That's what it comes down to anyways. Halo is just more than its online component. You need to better reacquaint yourself with its Universe to appreciate what Halo stands for. It's more than just plasma rifles and online multiplayer. When you could reach that point and pass all the generic bashing, you'll enjoy Halo a lot more. Elann2008I liked Halo: Combat Evolved back when it debuted. Halo 2 just didn't do it for me. I havent even played the story for 3 and Reach. I really enjoyed ODST though, I thought it was great.
