I must be weird but Skyrim has been sitting on my desk for two weeks and I still haven't installed and played it. Has anyone purchased a game only to not play it for a while? Any particular reason why?

Bought Alpha Protocol for $2 a couple months ago. Just been too busy with other titles, but every time I consider I always choose something else. :P
Yeah, say hello to my Steam backlog. Most recently though, the game I'm hesitant to play is Dark Souls. I got past the Asylum Demon at the beginning, his psychopathic blows shattering pots and stone all around me and blasting my ear drums through my headset, and I put the controller down and walked away, vowing never to return to that twisted, twisted game. Even now it taunts me from my living room.
Ehm, normally if it's a bargain i got, and purchased just cos it was cheap. If it's a big title, such as skyrim, bf3 or any game i've been lookin to for long time, i'll be installin asap, any other thing can wait :P
Amnesia took me a couple of weeks to build up the courage. =D

Two buddies and I had a cool way of playing that game. We all got on Skype and started at the same time so generally we encountered everything at once, but a couple hours in, we went off on different paths so it was still funny to hear one of ours friends get startled. Haven't played it since, but I think when I do. I'll have to start over.
Most recently for me is Anno 2070
Bought it beacuse I loved 1404 and liked the modern setting but it's one of those games that you have to dedicate long sessions to and I just haven't had time recently :(
There are heaps of other games that I've bought and have not really played... not out of hesitation, just I don't really feel like playing them.
Yea it happens. I bought Medeivell 2: Total Wa ages ago but haven't even installed it.
I've probably done it with other games as well.
Incentive, if you also have Kingdoms :PYea it happens. I bought Medeivell 2: Total Wa ages ago but haven't even installed it.

I've done it many times actually. I bought The Wither 2 around launch time but I haven't even unwrapped it yet! I guess it's because I don't have that much time to really get into it and I don't want to get too distracted. So I stick to the likes of bf3 for some quick action for the time being...
All the time, 2011 was too good of a gaming year, the amount of games I got is frightening, having them all installed doesn't help my motivation when I try to play one of them and I'm not strong enough to delete some of them :P, I'm currently trying to take it one single game at a time, 3 missions left on Rage.DanielDustThe bigger problem is deciding what game to play next after you're done with one
Normal just not the time. Right now i still have the entire hl2 games to play

Shame on You.
Anyway, i have... about 30 games that i haven't played that i bought off of Steam Sales : P
however they on the hole costed less than 25 dollars so, not really a big lost.
I Will play them.... eventually.

And I thought that my 15+ unplayed steam games is tops.
Now I felt better.
I do that sometimes... usually it's because either I'm too busy to start the game or I decide to finish another game first, but sometimes I do so for more eccentric reasons (saving a game set in a cold climate for winter, for instance).FunkyhamsterI do stuff like this sometimes too actually!
I have 7 games on Steam right now that I purchased over a month ago and have yet to play any of them. It's not because I'm "hestitating" to try them, it's just that I've been busy and haven't had the time. When I start a brand new game, I like to have a large chunk of time to dedicate to it initially so if I only have a hour or so to play, I'll just boot up something I already know.
i put off playing quite a few games because i don't have enough time to really get into it. rts games were once one of my favorite genres but now i don't buy them because with the occasional time i play i can never get as good and enjoy them like i once used to. same for rpg's, i need to invest a certain amount of time to get immersed and learn the controls and game mechanics to really enjoy it. if i know i won't be able to free up that time then i won't play it. it just sucks to come back to a game and find you might as well start over cause you half forgot who is who and what does what.
If I get a game, I always make a point of starting it up and checking it out. I'm a huge completionist, so there are very few games I haven't beaten.
Weirdly enough, I LOVE the God of War series, but though I've had the Collection and 3 for a while, I'm still stuck on 2.
Other than that example, I always go through my games, usually as soon as possible.
