We call something bug to be obvious and most of the people face it at least once.

command and conquer red alert 2 was amazing although not perfect. Despite the bugs I found Stalker close to perfect, but not quite there.

I've played some perfect games on Xbox 360: Saints Row 2, Earth Defense Force 2017, and NHL 09.

The perfect game already exists, on Nintendo's next gen system. Mario Galaxy is the most fun I have ever had with a game. Sure Half Life 2 and Episodes are also pretty good but I still find areas where I feel frustrated. Not for very long, but Galaxy is endlessly enjoyable from start to finish.

Interesting thread. Got to say I need to give Half Life 2 Orange Box a try now. I personally found saints row 2 to be that game - it was fun from start to finish. In some sense a very under-rated game!

Starcraft.

Fascinating story, never saw a single bug without using *special ways* with modded map editors, no redundance that a crapload of more recent RTSs have with no reason other than annoying the player. I've put about 12,000 (yes, twelve thousands rounding down every variable, so probably it's even higher) hours in it and still at this time I play it for hours and hours when the "Oh geez, I'm looking at my games collection and everything looks so boring..." kicks in.

Crysis comes close, even though its bugs often are hardware/OS memory management fault. The alien part never irritated me, only the Core mission does, and even that by the way has the most amazing environment ever made to look at, so it's not really an issue.

Starcraft on my new PC looks kind of grainy. it's an old game but I've seen the game played on new computers and it looks quite good. Is there something I'm missing? There's no way to change the resolution or whatever so it can't be that. It doesn't look bad by any means, but I've just seen it look better on fairly new computers.

Probably it's the monitor's fault. Mine still looks as sharp as it was back in '98 when I was using a 800x600 screen.

Well the new monitor I got is a 21.5 inch ASUS. I am coming from a 19 inch CRT and the game looks the same as did on there. Even on that CRT monitor, some stuff looked pretty grainy. I can't figure it out.

The closest thing I've found to perfection is Half-Life 2, and even that has problems... stuttering issues and sub-standard AI for example.

But there is no such thing as a genuinely perfect game.

Neverwinter Nights. When I first got the game I was stunned by how good it looked on my dinosaur of a computer. Then I got tot he gameplay and I must've spent more than a 1000 hours on that game alone. Sadly NwN 2 really disappointed me.

Mass Effect, X3, and Arma 2 are close runners up.

1. Freespace series - One of the greatest series created bar none.

2. Diablo Series - May be Hack and Slash, but still gets support and played after how many years?

3. Thief Series - Great original story, graphics, play, etc.

4. Baldur's Gate Series - Epic in scope and replayability.
