I just built myself a new rig with
Athlon64 X2 4200+
XFX 8600GT XXX
1024mb RAM
600w PSU

I built it on a budget and so far it is working flawlessly, it runs all my games at high. However when I run bf2, I get strange lag jumps. It goes from 90fps to 20fps and then back to 90fps every few seconds and it really annoys me. I am running out of options, I have tried everything. Anyone have any suggestions?

By the sounds of it, you have all your drivers up to date, things like that. I see the problem being with the amount of RAM. This is the second time I've heard of a problem with BF2 and the person also had 1gb of RAM. I think if you could squeeze another gig from somewhere then it would run a lot better.

this can be due to alot of things most likely youve gone from regions which are not graphically intesnsinve to one which is, or enertered a fire fight, put vertical sync on that may steady it abit.
