If you want Dx10 go for 8800GTS at ast if not a good dx9 like x1950Pro is the best choice for you. Those two games that you specifyed are dx9 games so...
I dont think so... From what ive seen the 8600GTS and HD 2600XT beat the 7600GT and X1650XTDude, even an X1650 XT can outperform the 2600/8600 series.
Since you're not looking at DX10, I recommend going for a good DX9 mainstream card (X1650 XT, 7600GT, X1900 GT, X1950 GT and X1950 PRO).

I was a bit close, but still, the 8600/2600 are pretty underwhelming.

wtf? i play css at 1680 by 1050 with all those settings on and i get 40+ fps with my 7600gs 512mb:?
