Yeah they are overkill for source :P.. and the 4850, is better price:performance, everyone is reccommending the 4850/70 over nvidia atm. Here at least, and rightfully so.
4850 is faster than the 9800GTX and 9800GTX+ is faster than bothPC_X360
not exactly, its faster in some cases, and slower (with a minimal diff) in others...
but with the 9800 GTX goin at 199$, and the 4850 ALSO at 199$, its all about what u prefer, since their performance is rly to close to make it a clear desicion
would i be able to run every single source engine game including tf2 on a 19inch with full res and aa turned up to the highest with hdr enabled? and still get good frames with the 4850 i was going to get the 4870 but i mainly play source games and cod4 thats about it. so i am asking basicly if source games are all i play really is the 4870 worth it on my monitor??

Yes, definitely. 4xAA 16xAF and HDR enabled on those benchmarks. The source engine is 4 years old so no worries. You can even play with 8xAA, there's not much performance hit from 4xAA to 8xAA. The 4870 is overkill for 1280x1024, even the 4850 can handle 1680x1050 very well.
