So looking to buy a hd camcorder. I want a good battery life, good sound quality, 1080p would be nice but 720p is fine because this is mainly for youtube, sd slot or micro sd slot, removable battery is a plus but it's ok if it already has good battery life. This is mainly for making vids of me playing guitar, so sound quality is a must.

The cannon HV20 or HV30 are good, they used mini DV for video and SD for pictures. It has a mic jack for an external mic, but the onboard is just fine too.

Edit: also I jusdt found these aiptek ones that are like $179.

Well would you suggest this? Sony HDR-CX7 AVCHD?

I found it used for $400 with stand and everything. Is it a good deal. It has good reviews. It has a touch screen which is really cool. 10x optical zoom. 6.1mp.

the absolutely only difference between the HF100 and HF10 (besides one is black and one is silver) is the HF10 has 16gig built in PLUS an SD slot. The HF100 only has an SD slot (but is often bundled with a 16 or 32gig SD card. though there is the HF11 out not which I think the only difference is 32 built in instead of 16.

I'm too lazy to look this on up, but when I did my recent recsearch - ALL the Sony HD camcorders only did Interlaced full HD (1080i) I personally don't like interlacing - it looks like cheap video - of course you can always de-interlace in your editing software but you'll lose resolution in the process. Now - a feature I love of the Canon HF10 is the cine mode - it records a slightly duller/flatter looking image BUT it records a lot more mid range chroma and luma information which lets you "push the grade in post" which just means play around with the colours and contrast. normal camcorders will blow whites out where you can't restore the detail in post.

I'm thinking about this now. http://about.pricegrabber.com/search_techspecs_full.php/masterid=55747821/st=product_tab Great price at $240, but it's refurbished. Do you suggest getting it? If I do it has a mic jack so I can buy a mic for $50-$75. Any suggestions?

my opinion is tainted because I won't buy anything samsung again (well I did get a phone because it was the only one offered with plan). read as many online reviews as possible by typing "SC-HMX10 review" into google. you might outgrow it, (as in find its limitations quickly) but things only get cheaper and better. If you don't outgrow it too soon then at least you didn't spend too much on something else. Oh I did read "no hardware image stabilizer". Not sure how no image stabilizing would look. well, it would look shakey :P This could be a killer downfall.....

What do you mean I would outgrow it fast? And All my videos are most likely going to be taped on a tripod.

OMG I found a sony hdr-sr11 for a starting bid at $275, no bidders 15 hours left. This is a great deal right? What should I bid like $300? Isn't it regularly like $600? It says in description that it's not a refurbished one and only been used 2-3 times. With all the accessories that came with it. I can deal with a integrated mic for a little while so that will be fine.
