Would it be worth the upgrade when ATI releases this new card? right now i have a palit hd 4850 512mb,it was fine gaming at 1280x1024 but now ive moved up to a 24" 1920x1080..and while most games play fine,i have trouble with GTA 4(who doesnt) and the obvious crysis..i use a config that gives very nice eye candy and runs smooth for that, but im thinking more long term.Crossfire doesnt appeal to me in all honesty..and DDR3 512mb on this card is going to hold me back for upcoming games i think, especially at high resolutions.Thoughts?

Just to add i have an E7200 cpu overclocked to 4ghz and 4gb of ddr2 800mhz ram..3.5 really since im using xp 32bit.

If you can afford to upgrade, then yes, go for it! The card looks like it will be great, and it seem to love AA!

Is your current card not playing the ganes you want? The longer you wait hte better the card will be for your budget and personally i dont think itll be worth it (its expected to perform around the GTX280 mark).

It plays 95% of them at adequate frame rates, other ones that have low fps are usually buggy, patched up and work later.I play quite alot of old games inbetween new releases aswell..i just dont want to hit a stumbling block with my card later this year with new releases.

It depends on how much you can sell the 4850 for, and how comfortable you are with spending cash.

A 4890 will compliment your 4GHz chip nicely.

I dunno, i'd say wait until the 5 series in q3 if you want to stick with ati, since that runs pretty much everything you want it to.

I agree wait for the 5 series. Because I think at 1920 rez you will need at least 4870x2 for dececnt settings and frames.

Hell my 3870 still runs most games on max settings (other than Crysis obviously). Just wait a bit.....

I never think it is worth it to upgrade from a current-gen card to another current-gen card. The 4850 will serve you very well. By the time games are really pushing your graphics card to the absolute limit on decent settings, the 5 series will be out.
