Hello, I've recently bought a 360 Elite and i'm starting to save for an 1080p capable HDTV and I was wondering, since most of the 360's games are 720p and/or 1080i native, can HDMI output those resolutions or only 1080p?

Thanks in advance

HDMI can output a variety of resolutions including 1080i/p, 720p. However the 360 will upscale everything to 1080p if thats what you set the default resolution at.

Ok so basically I'd just have to switch resolutions before playing a game?

No ... just because a tv is 1080p doesn't mean it won't accept any other resolutions. Even if that wasn't the case, as i said the 360 will upscale all content and output it at 1080p.

Well I was talking about switching the resolution form the 360, that wouldn't work either?

Maybe I'm not understanding you, or maybe your not getting what I'm saying. You don't need to change the resoulution man.

HDMI automatically selects the best resolution. If you hook up the 360 via HDMI you have no option but to accept the output resolution that it transmits.
