Before I buy my parts to build my pc I am wondering, can I use my 50'' 1080p HDTV as the desktop's monitor so I don't have to spend another 200$ on a separate monitor? I know I CAN use it, but the real question is how will the quality be and will I be happy with it, will it look the same if it was on a real computer monitor. Let me know your experiences or input, thanks!

I'm sure the quality would be fine. HDTV's have lower resolutions than computer monitors though. Still if its 50 inches you can't sit anywhere close to it so its way to big.

It will look great :) I actually prefer my tv rather than a monitor. As far as resolution goes the difference is 1920x1200 vs 1920x1080 your not losing very much at all, also your tv will scale to what ever resolution you want too just in case a game is too intense to run at 1920x1080. Monitor is good for web browsing, email etc ...

1920x1080 resolution sucks, i got a 40" tv set to that and even at 2.5 metres away it is hard to read things. The quality is excellent and can display very fine print clearly but unless you are sitting 1 metre away you will just be squinting the whole time. And if its an LCD TV then your eyes will be realy sore after 5 minutes.
