Buying a HD TV is really confusing and im having a troubled time. The thing is I have a PS3 and need a good HD Tv that can work with it. So i need some suggestions on good HD Tvs to checkout and information about some stuff I dont know about HD Tvs. Can we change between Interlace (i) and progressive (p) in HD tvs? What do you think is good for playing games, Interlace (i) or progressive (p)? And what are the HD Tvs you suggest (cost doesnt matter)? I say focus on the tv 1st and then if you want to get speakers and w/e else you need, go for it. Try cnet.com for their hdtv section because they break it down and make things really understandable. Also wikipedia helps.
As for HDTVs worth buying it depends what you are looking for. Since you said price is not an option that crosses out Westinghouse and Vizio, the wholesal, decent but often can be lacking in quality hdtvs. Try going on Amazon.com and reading user reviews on tvs. Brands I'd reccomend are Toshiba, Sony, Pioneer and Samsung. Size matters too. Bigger does not necessarily mean better, so be sure to read up on the viewing distance compared to the tv size on cnet.com.

Imo I would say Sharp has them all beat. Samsung, then Sony last. Pioneer definitely if you want a Plasma. Which I would avoid for gaming.
only crt tvs can display interlacing and some projection lcd and plasma cant display them natively. they can take the signal most of the time but they put them in there progressive native res.
