while i was browsing through newegg site i came across many P35 and 650i chipset motherboard. i noticed that some of their south bridge doesnt have heatsink.
so t he question is , does having a heatsink on south bridge important? why or why not?

Its not essential but it helps :)
Will you overclock?
Overclocking heats up the components so you are more likely to need it...
ya i intended to overclock a Q6600. also, is there a difference between 650i and 680i? i know there are some but i cant seem to find the main difference. Its not essential but it helps :)

the main difference is the 680i can run both pci-e slots sli at 16x, but its overkill and doesn't result in any increase in performance, besides that i think the only difference is the 680i has a bigger feature set.
If possible, get a P35 chipset motherboard- its the latest (and best :)).
They support the latest processors and upcoming 45nm CPUs too, some also support DDR3 memory...
