basically im stuck with a quad core or i7 (intels). is it worth getting the i7, or will the quad core be good enough? here are the 2 cpus im choosign bwtween. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115211 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4089666&csid=ITD&body=MAIN#detailspecs kthxbai
This completely depends on what your budget is. The i7 is the superior CPU with its quickpath interconnect and better SSE instructions. The Core 2 Quad is also a very good processor but it relies on the older front side bus technology so your RAM latency will be higher. The i7 also supports HyperThreading which makes the process operate in a pseudo octo-core mode. Keep in mind that both of these are quad core but would rely on completely different chipsets to function. The i7 is much better performance wise in multi tasking and marginally better in single task performance. I would be happy with either processor, but if you want all the power you can get, go for the i7.
go for the i7 ...u can upgrade graphic,s hard drive ,and ram in the future but the cpu is a pain to upgrade ur better off just going all out for the cpu and future proofing ur system
Both are good, the i7 is better, but you may be able to get a better price/performance ratio with a Core 2 or Phenom II (is that an option for you). What is your budget like?
