Updating the video drivers (whatever they may be in your machine, ATI or Nvidia I'd guess) will probably do it. That said, I've installed a few games in recent memory over Vista where I've had to explicitly use Directx9 (dll) assemblies in order for the main executable to even run.
I ran the Can You Run it thing. And i passed everything except the Video Card, and the Video Card Driver. I recently bought Supreme Commander Forged Alliance for windows. The install went fine, but when i try to boot up the program i get "Unable to create Direct3d, Please ensure pc has current video drivers". This was a 1500 dollar Gateway cpu i bought from best buy about a year ago. And ive had to restore it once bcuz of a virus. So that may have messed up my drivers but other than that i have no idea what to do. There has to be something wrong because i just cant believe that it wont even start the game, im not asking for it to run perfectly smooth but i have to at least have what it takes to boot the damn thing up! lol. Any help would be appreciated, thx.Royb88
Specs?
What is that command you can type in the Run button from the start menu that shows all your specs because as much as i can tell you is what comes up when i click properties from my computer. Which is: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 CPU 6300 @ 1.8ghz 1.87GHz, 1.97GB of RAM And i keep trying to update my driver, ive went to the microsoft site and the gateway site, i also keep getting pointed towards a lot of programs that finds the latest drivers for you but they cost money and this doesnt seem like a problem i should have to pay money for. I just want to game to boot up!Royb88
DXDiag. Run it, load the .txt file into Notepad, copy & paste it into a forum post.
Current nVidia driver should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 182.50.
i t seems you dont even have the graphics card drivers install thats why your Directx log says you are using generic drivers(and that doesnt help because since you are using generic it doesnt regognize your video card). Just give us you pc model so we can know what graphic card you have so we can help

this is almost certainly the problem
So how do i get the cpu to at least recognise the graphics card that i do have? Bcuz even thought this one apparently is a low end one it should still be enough to boot the game right?Royb88
not necessarily. if it doesn't support the graphics card, it's perfectly likely the game won't boot whatsoever.
still there's no harm in trying -- you should update the driver for your card. if that doesn't work, then it's likely that the game just doesn't like your card.

I assume that you mean the PC by CPU? CPU means central processing unit, a processor. Did high-end games work before the virus messed up your PC? RK-MaraIve never tried to play a game on my cpu so i couldnt say. I did play sim city on it before but that wouldnt qualify as a high end game. And yes i meant go inside the actual PC, find wherever the Videocard chip is, take it out and put it back in. Do you think that would do ne thing? Because i went to the intel website to download the latest driver for my video card, and it said it couldnt find any intel devices on my cpu at all. And yall just told me that i have a intel video card so i dont get it.

Also you cant take out that graphic card since is intergraded ( means is soldered into the motherboard) Also that graphic card will not allow you to play any high end games. Like you said games like sims and maybe spore and other casual games is ok. Only think you can do is give 50-60 dollars get a decent dedicated vga like Ati4670 that will allow you to play games at decent settings ( although your cpu might be limiter factor since is only 1,8ghz)

CPU and PC are not the same thing, cpu is inside the PC correct? And i cant take out the video card because its a part of the cpu right? So you all are saying that i basically have to upgrade my videocard to something better. Well i also dont know much about these cards either, so what do you all suggests and how much money are we talking after buying a card and installing it, or having it installed? Thx for everything so far by the way.
[QUOTE="RK-Mara"]You could take out a graphics card but you can't take out a chip. It's a part of the motherboard.Royb88So do i need a new card, a new chip, or both? I just wanna play the game! all you need is a videocard. Like i said considering your relativily weak cpu (still is ok for gaming but) an ati4670 (which is cheap enough and will allow you gaming at good enough settings with only few sacrifices) is one of your best choises. Installing a vga into your pc is one of the easiest things to do. Just find the correct expansion slot that the vga goes in (usually is a colored expansion ) put the vga in secure it (some vgas must be connected directly to power supply but this isnt the case with the ati4670 so no worries here) start pc go to Ati site download drivers install them and vuala

You're better off buying a new PC that has a slot for a 3rd-party graphics card for nVidia or ATI. Your PC has no such slot.
To solve your problem on current drivers, if it's an Intel graphics chip, then go to their website. As long as you know the chip's designation, you can download & install the latest driver Intel developed for that integrated chip.
You also need to understand the difference between what you have and a graphics card. You have an entry-level (emphasis on "entry"). The chip gobbles up part of the motherboard RAM to display graphics.
A graphics card, on the other hand, has its own Graphics RAM (GDDR) on-board the card itself. It also requires a driver to coordinate communication between the GPU, CPU, and OS.
Integrated graphics chips stop at around 64 MB shared RAM. You won't find many games requiring less than 256 MB, except some casual games.
The best you can do now is find the right drivers for your crappy integrated graphics, like many have already point out upgrading is not a viable option, mainly because your motherboard doesn't have the proper slot for a modern graphics card and your power supply isn't stronger enough.
You can't play SupCom on that computer, i don't think you can play any high end game on it for the matter.
