The game I'm trying to re-install is Blood Omen 2. I've had the game on my computer before so I know it works fine with it. The problem is last time I finished playing, I simply deleted the game folder instead of actually "uninstalling" the game. The only files I kept were my save files which I put in another folder.

Now, when I try to re-install the game, it just gives me the option to play the game, not to install it. Now I searched my program files folder for any files for this game I overlooked and needed to delete, but I found nothing. I also right clicked on the drive the CD is in and hit "explore" to see if maybe I could install the game with files off the disc itself. This also did not work as it just popped up the "play the game" screen.

So, what do I do? How do I re-install this game? I'll note I intend on starting the game over, so I don't need the save files..so if I need to delete those I will. If it isn't the save files, what should I do?

He likely won't be able to uninstall if there are no files.

Download CCleaner and go to the 'Registry' part (the blue cube). Click 'Scan for Issues' and it should find that you've got and it'll search for superfluous registry entries. If it asks you to create a back-up, put it somewhere you remember. After you do that, click 'Fix selected issues...'. After you're done with that, you should be able to reinstall.

I tried this, ran the cleaner several times..still can't install.

My friend who claims to be good with computers..said that this process would involve deleting key files from the registry which he says is "complicated" not sure if that is right or not..but i dont wanna have to re-install windows just for this.

He's right; that's what CCleaner is for. Try going down to 'Tools' and make sure you click the 'Uninstall' button. Look for the game in that list; if you find it, click 'Delete Entry'.

If you can't find it (or it doesn't work), we can move on to editing the registry directly.

I'm having a similar problem with Blood Omen 2. I finished the game, but it won't uninstall. I haven't deleted any files. The game still works fine. I've checked my registry and there are no problems. Uninstalling through the control panel doesn't work either. I'm running Windows XP with all the latest updates. The game also won't re-install. Perhaps our problems are related. Maybe there's a problem with the uninstaller. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I'v tried cc cleaner and deleting every game file i can find but it still doesnt work.

You could probably just find the registry using regedit.

Go under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ And then the folder is used to be And/Or

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/ And then the folder is used to be in.

I don't know if this will work, but it may be worth a shot.

Use this. Besides being a registry cleaner, it also removes junk files and various other things that you don't want people to see if you ever have some sensitive stuff ;). It's free with the only catch being that you'd have to upgrade to benifit from the more advanced options.

Use this if CCleaner cannot cut it out for you; sometimes it's a matter of the application's mechanics that may cause different things. It's free with the only catch being that you'd have to upgrade to benefit from the more advanced options.

It's OK. . . I figured it out. I went to the Registry Editor -> Go under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ and deleted the entire Crystal Dynamics Key. . Now it works. Installing now actually. :D
