I just bought the toshiba Satellite X205-SLi5 comp (http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.to?seg=HHO&poid=412521&in_merch=1) and it comes with dual hard drives. Ive never had this before and I was wonder what you more computer savvy people had in terms of advice. Im just wondering what I should do to optimize the computer w/ regards to using the dual hardrives? sorry this is pretty vague but id appreciate any avice and can answer questions if you need more information. thanks in advance.

Dual hardrives simply means that there is 2 inside the computer one as a master and one as a slave. And I dont quite understand what you mean by optimize them, because it is really no way to do so. But they will work like that 1 hard drive is the C: and 1 is the D: there is no difference than a 320gb hardrive cut in half.

Was i clear enough because i think i was a bit vague aswell.

Hope it helped ya out tho

You can always have your OS on one drive, and install games or programs on the other. Also put your pagefile on the drive that does not have the OS on it.

Actually, when you have 2 HDD you can set them up in a RAID.

The most popular amongst gamers is RAID 0, which allows both HDD to work together, by splitting, then saving things in each hard drive. This greatly speeds up your Hard Drive related tasks, like loading, because this way both hard drives are working independently to accomplish the same task.

Another popular RAID set up is RAID 1, which basically coppies everything in your first HDD to your second one, so if one fails, the other one is ready to take over.

Theres also more but I dont really understand them, but either one would probably be better than a master/slave set up.

Ok, ill look into the RAID setup and see if that is something id like to do. If not, does it make a difference what programs, files, ect. I put on which hardrive. For example will my computer be faster if I put the OS on one hardrive w/ games, and then, say, my mp3's, movies, ect on the other?
