I'm thinking about building a computer for the first time, but I'm not sure about the parts I picked out. Any help would be great. I need to make sure that the parts are all compatible. Also, I'm trying to build something that I can get good performance out of, but I can't spend alot. Any ways to cut down on cost or get better parts for the same cost would be great. I'm not worried about overclocking, but it would be nice if I'll be able to upgrade it.

These are the parts:

Well your better of buying things from one place rather from 3. But heres a system for $700 already put together and can play any game. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?MfrId=1583&CatId=6 . But if you want to build your own go for it, Here's a good budget gaming rig: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4140383 -X2 6000 $80 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3574530&CatId=2321 - Mobo $60 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3228139&Sku=C13-6082 -4Gb XMS2 $55 ($25 AR*) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2337816&Sku=ULT33182 -Case $50 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276573&Sku=ULT-LSP650 - PSU 650 Watt $50 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4142297&CatId=2458 - Hdd 250 Gb $45 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3424382&CatId=89 - DVD $25 hthttp://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4104586&CatId=3670 - 9800GT with Cod4 $135 ($109 AR*)

Thanks, the only problem is, since some of these parts have rebates now should I get most of the parts and wait for the cpu, or will the new cpus even affect the prices alot on the current ones?

Edit: This was in response to Marcthpro's post

No if your going to built a pc build it now or just wait to get all the parts until the cpu you want is out. But that ^ budget pc I posted above will play any game fine. you can change the OS if you want.

There will be other part in rebate that will fit you better in january don't worry about that and I know i'm smart i'm kind to show you all this information soccerguy93 and thx for ur reply ;) and 04carraherh u make no logic not to insult you my new Friend of gamespot but 6000x2 is WAY WEAKER then 9950 Black edition 3.2GHZ OVERCLOCKEd which is already 15-30% BEHIND e8400 overclocked at same SAFE LEVEL So if you want to make sense redefine ur logic and I'm speaking this with all peacefull mind to you 04carraerh but todafy we are the 22th so the 9th january There will be much better cpu for around price and maybe by then ul have a little more $$$ TO increase ur gaming performances by that you can still look if you want to go intel & ATI motherboard Such as E8400 + a P45. or E7300 + A P45
+ A 8800Gt / 4850 or 9800gTX+ which is better then 4850 for 150$? If i'm right

well then it make sense but really weak to be honest you may have a 6000. but it sORT Of erally weak with 8800GT Sli there are bottlenecking even if you force ur self to tell there is no differance there is but not more then 50% Differance in frame rate per second besue SLI 8800GT Is Behind 260GTX 216 Core Overclocked Right?! or IS This Benchmark showing planeinyl that you'r 60fps vs 120fps ? unless ur playing 1920x1200 which make 60fps vs 69fps+ it a diffearnce tough
but again it just what say this benchmark http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=775&p=3 9 fps differance ?
but 10 fps for World in conflic http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=775&p=15
But in the case of playing on 1680x1050 or 1280x1024 there a huge differance i don't know why tough it just as the benchmark state

as iv heard of the rumour with all the techpowerup / fudzila / guru3d / inquirer Iv heard the Phenom II (deneb) could reach store at under 300$
for is best Core As possiblity to counter intel sales but doesn't know if that True I heard it would also Pwn The Previous Generation of Intel
Which mean it would lead into gaming because it would be 4 Core at 3.0ghz then going to 4.0ghz With a nice airflow and then defeating the precedent cpu
for gaming performances which woud be nice for Gamers Fans but Bad for Intel fans For me i'm only picking the winning Side i'm gamer & pure tech no company is my prefferance unless it as Lifetime warranty (^^) and as good performances It why I say if you'r a gamer take the most wise money for Buck build

While if ur a fanatic then fall into ur love with ur product but doesn't expect it to beat the law of physic ;)

^ Never trust benckmarks even with the"pros". The X2 6000 isnt that weak it about the same performance as a Q6600(without the extra two cores). It has no trouble running any game, if the game runs 70fps vs 90 who cares the game/s run the way its its meant to be played. In the real world you couldnt tell the difference in game. Unless it was lagging. Now the higher the resolution the less stress is put on the cpu then at a lower resolution.

For example My younger brother bought a X2 5200 and a 8800GT but yet it runs Crysis at 1280x1024 all on very high settings (dx9 hack) very well for whats it worth. If you have at least a recent cpu thats dual core above 2 ghz you wont have any trouble until they move to quads fully which is a good 1-2 years away and by the time that happpens they will have cpus 4x faster than whats out now. So all the people now bought quads in the last year has pretty much wasted money because not too many programs use 4 cores or even 2 but its getting better thou.

I guess I'm on a fairly low budget build. I want something $800 or less that I won't have to upgrade for a while. Of course the not upgrading for a while probably won't happen, but I guess I can dream. :P

Another question, are ATX and Micro ATX mobos different in anything but size?

Edit: Solved, I looked it up, only other difference is that Micro ATX mobos usually have fewer ports.

Is it worth $100 dollars more to get a Phenom 9950 Black Edition instead of an X2 6000+? The benchmarks I've seen don't show alot of improvement for that $100.
